    Mechanical V. Electric Fuel Pump

I have been using an electric on my rig since i fired it back up about half a year ago. I like it ok. wouldnt say i am in love with one over the other but my electric does the job. most of them have a filter before the pump, i learned that those can clog easily and cause fuel starvation...

    Fuel Switch valve

i did go with a generic replacement valve, which i may regret later, but, just to save anyone the trouble if they go that route too, i broke my first one with less than 80 miles on it, because i had to relocate where i mounted the valve, and was not careful enough when trying to reinstall the...

sway bar link brackets on frame

Those pics are truly helpful! I will try to remember to take some R vs L photos of what I'm seeing on my front sway bar attachments tomorrow and post. I am now reasonably certain I can fabricate the MIA bracket. Working on just getting her on the road for across town now, hopefully she's my...

sway bar link brackets on frame

Perfect! Knowing that they did not all have them, ill move that to the back burner till I get a few other things fixed up. Kind of relieving.

sway bar link brackets on frame

Can anyone tell me, if the brackets that the "eye" end of the sway bar links (the top end) bolt to, and are attached to the frame, are they identical or mirrored parts of themselves from driver side to passenger side? that bracket is missing on my 84 f250 passenger side, and i am thinking of...

    Batteries

i cant say what cold weather results i will have but i put 2 napa 9835m marine AGM batteries in mine. 750 cca at zero degrees. i do short trips across town, so have the 3g alternator upgrade. Experience is what you get right after you really needed it so i guess i will know more the next time...

Wiring swap - what do I need to know

i am currently working on getting my 84 roadworthy, from basically no wiring at all. i will say it does take time, and some ability to plan circuits ahead, but i wouldnt call it hard work. its just being on top of the engine compartment, contorted under the dash, or under the truck playing...

    painting fuel tanks

I gotta like the duplicolor engine enamel. I work at a parts store part time and get a very generous discount on the stuff so i already have it. wipe it down and scuff it up and self etching primer it, then engine enamel. i am going to leave the factory painted one alone, i dont think i will...

    painting fuel tanks

I did search for fuel tanks before i posted this, and your project photos appeared. Very nice work indeed. i am merely an okay-ish welder, better than the average amateur i guess, but i better practice up welding thin metal before i tackle something like that. on the other hand, i will need...

    painting fuel tanks

i am wondering if it is a good idea to undercoat or paint new fuel tanks? i have new ones to install soon, so if they should get a coating, now would be the time to do it, anyone have thoughts or advice or ideas? good idea? bad idea? one new tank is galvanized, the rear one came with paint...

Changed out the glow plugs, now relay is whining..

I haven't a glow plug controller, I just have a manual push button for cooler starts, and my glow plug relay whines, or "sings" with an increasing pitch when I activate it. Starts the truck beautifully though. I keep my starter and gp relays in an ammunition box, keeps things drier in that...

    Hot Shots secret stiction eliminator....

I have not used these products but i work at a local parts supplier, one of our customers is the most popular diesel pickup guy in town, he uses hotshots sticktion eliminator on every truck he works on. anecdotal but i hear it is worthwhile.
