Any Ideas for cool air inlet?

I always thought it would be cool to have a tractor type filter that came out of the hood, with the metal cap sticking up about 3" Just get an old tractor filter & filter case thing, make a mount, cut a 7 or 8" hole bolt it in.

    F350 Leaf spring material?

haha no just knives... one leaf can make about 30 or 40 knives, so I'd be cutting up a pack just for one leaf out of it. Right now I'm just using the overloads, but I'm afraid they will retain too much of the memory As for somebody needing them, I've had them in and out of my sig line for the...

    Question for RawPower

Sorry it took me so long to respond.... Ok well here's the deal. I haven't driven it yet. Its a project truck, and have been working on it for a long time. I now only need brake lines and driveshafts. I have all the yokes, I just need DOM for the shafts. It should be rolling in 2 weeks... so...

    Frickin' ATS are idiots!!

Mine used to not leak, but I took it off when I rebuilt the ZF, and now it won't line up properly again, so I'm thinking its going to

    Frickin' ATS are idiots!!

yeah it would be coming out of the far right side of the hood, as far as I could get it. the visibility doesn't worry me too much, once all factors are taken into consideration. I wasn't too serious about the tractor thing... but I am curious as to how legal/illegal it would be.

    Frickin' ATS are idiots!!

Mostly offroad LOL but I will be taking it on the road some, as a grocery getter, if you will. I have thought about it, and I know it will soot my roof up some, but its ok with me. I'm running 15 psi w/ barely enough fuel, so I don't get much black smoke. I won't ever have a load, so the engine...

    Frickin' ATS are idiots!!

I'm going to do that to mine here in a little bit, except just run it out the hood like a tractor's exhaust, but 4" or larger. I ordered my 3" from here: http://www.jhdiesel.com/ They were nice and had good CS, got the product to me in under a week, normal shipping. Of course, I'm in the...

    Intercooler

x2. you'd just make the path that the air has to travel twice as long and way more convoluted. like stated above, the air temp is relatively that of the outside air.

    running cool

Follow the upper radiator hose down to the engine block. The rubber hose connects to a cast iron piece that is bolted to the block. Unbolt that from the block, and you will see the thermostat. As mentioned earlier, purchase only IH or Motorcraft thermostats for these engines.

This happened to me and I still haven't dealt w/ it. Except I have Ken's DPS headstuds. WTF. $600 + for something thats not supposed to break? I'm pissed, to say the least...

I installed his Stage 1's injectors. I don't recommend them, the gain isn't justifiable IMO.

    Broken DPS Headstud?

Yeah you can do that I guess... never thought of that. Unless you have lots of miles and they have rusted themselves in pretty well. You can't get good leverage with a hex wrench. But that is also unlikely. Anyways, conlusion is I am unwilling to pull all of the headstuds. I don't wand to...

    Broken DPS Headstud?

Unless there is some magical way... I'm pretty sure you do. The clearance on the rear 3 head studs on the pass and 2 on the drivers is minimal, somewhere around 3". Therefore you can't slide the cylinder head off to do a gasket change. Those last 3 bolts also can't be removed while in the engine...

    Broken DPS Headstud?

Yeah, I'm going to try that. I'm glad that it sheared along a fairly level plane... if it were at a steep angle it would make extracting it quite difficult. Thanks for the help everyone. I'm going to begin calling Ken next Monday I guess. This weekend is far too busy for me to attempt to do...

    Broken DPS Headstud?

It is a stud, and it is threaded at both ends. the other end is out of focus & is a fine thread, so its hard to tell in the picture.

    Broken DPS Headstud?

Yeah, I know. I'm going to do what JD said, and after fixing the one, hope for the best & check them very often. As for the testing... I don't know anyone who does that type of testing... How much does that typically cost? Yeah I'm not willing to pull the engine and replace them all at this...

    More Rumore are confirmed,..

Well on a project truck like that you typically lose a lot of money that is put into it... So I would say that if you had the truck, plus $15,500 invested, Then $12,000 would be fair, but I would never expect that. Honestly I think it would sell for $7000, $9000 if the seller held out for a...
