    Type of Pressure plate?

Thank you for the input. I don"t have any experience with a DMF. It never slipped with a heavy load, but it would intermittently slip without a load at higher RPM's going uphill. From what you said about the DMF, I think I may have one.

Troubleshooting - PS pump or steering box

My mistake for not reading completely. I see you already replaced the Box, sorry. You should be able to remove one end pressure hose and turn the pump by hand. If fluid pumps out, your pump should be good.

Troubleshooting - PS pump or steering box

I concur, I had the same issue. Replace the steering box and all worked well. The good news is that Ford Truck used the same Steering Box from 1985 thru 1996 (Maybe longer) and Pick-n-Pull have several at a much lower price. I found one with the engine and front clip removed. That made the job...

    Type of Pressure plate?

Hello to all of you great IDI owners. Well it's time to replace my slipping Clutch. I have a 1993 7.3 factory turbo with a 5 speed transmission. Besides pulling the transmission and looking, is there a way to know if there is a Dual Mass or Solid Flywheel? With that being said, I understand...

    Bolt in seat options

I've been following this thread and I would like clarification on the Floor Pan. Is it an actual piece of metal that bolts to the floor? Meaning a bench seat and the 40-20-40 seat have different floor pans that bolt in? Thank you.

    Truck engine dies on de-Acceleration

All is good! Installed a new fuel filter (with ATF) ran it for about 5 minutes, let sit 24 hours. Drove it like I stole it and it responded like I did. No more dying on de-acceration. Thanks to all the great folks out there in Oil Burner land.

Thanks to all who answered. That settles it, I'm going to get the transmission fixed and make some money off the truck.

7.3 IDI & Power Stroke Engine Block question

Perhaps I didn't ask the question correctly . . . Can I take the IDI Heads and Manual injector pump and install them on a Power Stroke Long Block? Are the Bolt Patterns and timing gear the same? I know this one year (93.5 to 94.5) of the IDI 7.3 with factory turbo had (I believe) the rods and...

7.3 IDI & Power Stroke Engine Block question

Well, I guess that answers my question. Thank you. I guess I'll get the Transmission fixed . . . it'll be worth more. :-)

    Truck engine dies on de-Acceleration

Living in Alaska for 26 years I learned the value of "HEET" (the red bottle) to keep water out. When I bought the truck the first thing I did was was add some HEET and Diesel Kleen to both tanks to help remove water and any algae. I'm sure it helped, but my fault for not changing the fuel...

7.3 IDI & Power Stroke Engine Block question

Just wondering . . . I have a 1996 7.3 Power Stroke with an after market engine pushing close to 500 hp (although some have said 600), but I've digressed. The truck is in fair shape, the tranny is toast. (Read Parts truck). I also have the Holy Grail of 7.3 IDI's . . . a 1993 and a 1/2, 7.3 IDI...

    Truck engine dies on de-Acceleration

An update . . . The correct filter wasn't available locally, but Amazon will have it here on or before Friday. BTW the truck had been sitting for quite a while before I bought it. I took the old filter off today and there was water & rust in the filter. Not good!

Thank you Scott, I always have Sea Foam on the shelf. Best stuff ever!

    Truck engine dies on de-Acceleration

I'll pick up a new filter today and try it. Just for clarification, I fill the filter all the way with ATF and the truck will run on ATF? Will it harm the injectors? Would it be okay or better to mix the ATF with Sea-Foam? Thank you "all" for your help in this matter.

    Truck engine dies on de-Acceleration

Just started doing this yesterday. Whether I just rev up the engine or de-accerate while down shifting to a lower gear the engine dies. It does start right back up without problems. Runs and drives just fine, just don't take your foot off the fuel pedal very quickly. The truck is the 1993 with...

    7.3 Engine RPM's?

Well, its been more than a week and more pressing projects have come up. However, I noticed that when I do drive the truck at speed, the RPM's are normal. The one exception is when I put my turn signals on, the reading drops about 500 rpm's. Bad ground? Perhaps the installers of the after...

    Heater and A/C controls

Well, after checking all the Vacuum servos and vacuum lines, I finally dug into the dreaded heater box! I found the problem after pulling the Fan out . . . some type of critter (not a mouse or Rat) made a really nice nest inside the Fan rotor, and A/C box. After vacuuming and blowing out the...

    Heater and A/C controls

It is a 1993 F250. However, I haven't even had the time to troubleshoot the problem yet. Hopefully this coming week. Thank you.

    7.3 Engine RPM's?

After my maiden trip today, I have found out the most likely problem, but don't know how to fix it. My tachometer is giving faulty readings. In neutral it will give up to 3600 RPM. However, when I'm driving it down the highway it may show 500 RPMs or 3000 RPM. Bad gauge or electronic sensor...

    Heater and A/C controls

One small issue, I have no idea where to start. The heat and A/C both work, but the floor, vent and defrost position do not change. I can hear the blower motor working, but just a little air coming out . . . everywhere. Any input would be welcome. As a note, I did replace my Vacuum Pump...

    7.3 Engine RPM's?

At 3000 rpm's, I can hold it there all day. My old 88 7.3 did that at 60 mph with the 3 speed automatic. I'll check floored in Neutral tomorrow and get back with you.
