I think on my 7.3 I used a small pry bar and GENTLY pried against the valve cover while slowly working it out. The trick is not to kill the grommet or knock anything else in there when it does give

I'll look at the bracket, but as far as the gears go I commonly drive an 07 350 w/3.55s and an 05 350 w/ bigger tires 3.73s both with 6.0s and really like the 3.73s. Heck when she's running solid I'm pretty satisfied with the 3.55s just looking for a little more torque for towing and since I...
From what I've understood, didn't all the 350s come with 60s up front? I thought it was just the pre 04 250s and excursions to watch for.
If nothing else I'll bring a pencil and paper to get the numbers and confirm before I do any pulling.

So I've found a 60 off an 04 w/3.73s for $400. Comes with springs and steering if I pull it.
Dude says he's got one from an 01 350 as well. I really liked the idea of coil sprung up front but people out here are way too proud of their 60s. Couldn't find anything less than 600 for the worst ones...
You definitely did. That kinda sucks cuz I just put the damn things in a couple months back. Didn't have them tested before hand but I got them off rock auto as "new" Delphis but IIRC they were stanadyne coded and was sure not to damage the tips. it's weird since the problem seems intermittent...
I've got stainless braided AN from the tank I'm using up most of the way to the pump with all new fittings as well as cleaned/lubed all the connections when I did and just checked the soft ones and didn't see any kinks or potential obstructions.
Guess I'll use the rest of that stainless braid...
No gauges yet but I foresee a pyro sneaking it's way into the budget soon.
By pump I did mean lift pump and yes there was virtually no smoke. The PO had the inj pump done just before I got it. Checked the filter, it's dirty but it's been way worse with nowhere near the smoke I have now no...

I've been getting major power loss and black smoke lately. But the fuel filter light started flashing intermittently at idle...
Replaced the filter and the light went away for a couple days with no real improvement in performance. But I'm getting excessive black smoke...
I might actually just end up saving those 1 tons for my half ton project so I could still use the tires. Which would be awesome, but still means I need 4 new tires and wheels...

It's got 3.55s in her now, I was hoping to go 3.73 which is what the "new" rear is and look for that on the coil sprung one.
That's a little disappointing on the wheels tho, I've only got 12k on my current tire and wheel setup and those duratracs ain't cheap.
Also, would it make a...
Well that certainly makes it easier. I guess I'll start looking for a front out of an 05+ or a guess 13+ if I can find one cheap.
At this point y'all think it's worth trying to utilize the rear off the 01 or would I be better off selling it and doing them from the same year?

I'm a little west of Austin but I got the 01 rear 10.5 with the 3.73s just because the tires on it are worth more than I paid for it.
Looking into the coil swap, as well as what others have said about them and am seriously considering doing that down the road. Are y'all using kits to put yours...
Well it turns out the front was a 50 plus it wasn't really in the budget anyway.
Think I might just end up rebuilding the front with an auto locker and 3.73s. I've already replaced everything else on it plus then I avoid those unit bearings.
Never done gearing before but I've always wanted...
Possessed no, cursed maybe. But as long as that curse stays with the frame I'll be alright.
Just talked to the dude and he said he's pretty sure it's an 04 but he knows the dude did an engine swap. So it's looking like I'll be good there. We're supposed to pull them tomorrow so I'll know for...
I've got a 93 F350 cclb 4x4 with the 3.55s.
260k on the odo and noticed the pinion bearings in the back have play and leaking out the seal and is developing a howl. The front has a bad seal along with choccy milk fluid and metal shavings.
Found a set of SD axles (tires, wheels, brakes...
I'd say if there's an easy way to bypass it bypass it. That being said if the original one lasted 25 years then I'd feel comfortable with just replacing it.
I'm currently battling an air intrusion at the selector valve but haven't had any problems with the fuel heater yet

Update: After talking with 283dfc and getting very helpful advice, I ran a clear line from the pump to the line coming from the tanks/ selector valve and I primed it with the mechanical pump. I then noticed an air bubble sitting at the high point in the line with a small bubble coming from the...
The rear tank was low but the front tank was full and it ran on the front tank a good 20 minutes before it finally sputtered out. it ran rough that whole 20 minutes tho except when it was idling.
I think tomorrow I'm gonna run a clear line from the pump to the selector valve to see if that's...
Ya it runs fine off the jug, but don't see any leaks along the entire length fuel lines going into either tanks.
There's some deeply oil coated spots where the line runs under the flywheel. But other than that I can try and prime the line coming from the tanks into the pump, but it just keeps...
Update - I just finished installing the facet duralift pump and while it seems to work flawlessly, it'll prime and prime and I'll keep letting air out of the Schrader valve, but it seems as if it's sucking air as fast as I'm bleeding it.
Running just the pump gets bubbly fuel leaking from...
I've changed the fuel filter twice now, once right after I got the truck, then again after I cleaned the rear tank and blew the lines just for reassurance. How would I tell if there's diesel in the oil? It usually seems good, done 2 oil changes with Amsoil/delo been adding a quart roughly every...
My 7.3idi factory turbo won't stay running. It started the other day with a hard start, then died twice going to work. Showed the exact symptoms of running out of fuel except I had fuel. Did the return lines twice, replaced pickup tube and blew lines as well as cleaned the tank of debris. It'll...
