    automatic tdi fuel mileage?

The TDi cars are great. Sticks are better by as much as 15% but the auto is still ok. The car should get you about 950 to 1150 km per tank. If it is running poorly it is likely due to a coked EGR valve - these can be cleaned easily enough. Also, air intakes sometimes plug and MAF sensors go bad...

    My Next New Truck

For what it is worth I hope that GMC can save itself from financial disaster. It would be nice to the GM DMAX, the Corvette and the Caddy cars survive. The Hummer stuff is a joke unless we are only talking about the A1 which I still thinks serves a purpose. Don't mean to sound so neg...

    My latest project (PICS!!!)

rubberfish, I've got a complete build list and set of pictures from a friend in CO that he used to make his Twins. Very nice set up and very economical. I will be doing that some day to my '02.

Looking for 7.3L picture / repair manual

Client was told by a local Ford Dealership that his motor is dusted and is $15 large to replace. He called me back and told him they are lazy and full of horse sh*t - he should visit another dealer. Client has had truck for 3 months and the last service was done at a dealer where they plugged in...

Looking for 7.3L picture / repair manual

Rich, the second pic in of your set there shows the exhaust manifold and plumbing back up to the turbo right? (I'm a Cummins guy so you'll need to forgive my ignorance). Anyway, the bolted connection at the (or near the top) is the bit leaking. He has very little get up and go but has no...

Looking for 7.3L picture / repair manual

Hi guys, Anyone know where i can find a complete diagram of the 7.3L motor? I'm attempting to assist a customer with an exhaust leak on his 2002. The leak seems to be coming from a vertical pipe 2" in diameter on the rear (again fire wall) right side facing exhaust bank on the V8. The...

    Upgrade the OEM lift pump

Whitemore, good post. Lots of work for the average Joe though. I'll agree that anything, yes anything is better than the in-the-tank fix or a replaced OEM LP. In fact using another OEM pump mounted on the frame rail in combination with the OEM under the hood would also work ok. We could...

How many lift pumps have you gone through?

Yes, most people don't have a clue. Until it happens to them. Then they read and read and read forums like this and others to find out what is the best way to fix something. The best thing to do is offer suggested solutions. There is always more than one way. Some aren't as good as others but...

How many lift pumps have you gone through?

Quick answer, if you can stay away from that dealer than - this is the warranty fix for the LP in the 2003 and up Cummins. If the dealer says no, either he has a better idea (IE knows about FASS or eq.) or he isn't someone you want working on your oil burner. The in the tank pump is still...

    How many Canucks over here?

Let me know where I can find pictures after all is said and done. I'm sad to have missed it. Although I doubt I would run my truck on the dyno - as it is really bone stock under the hood. I've got some goodies to install but not for a smoke and mirrors show.

    My Next New Truck! Ha!

This may be evident with the Ford PSD / IH. But not so with the Dodge / Cummins. I mean they are all great trucks - that's not my point. I just saying that we are seeing a trend to still better than a gasser for mileage but the used to be 30+ imperial miles per gallon 12V'ers have been replaced...

    Intake kit suggeestions

aFe is likley the most popular choice for the CTD. If is washable and oiled. The BHAF is good but it is a throw away model.

    My Next New Truck! Ha!

You know, to me it don't really matter as long as it is an Oil Burner! Ok, I perfer the CTD. The problem I see is this very dangerous numbers game that the 3 players are playing - ok, just because you can get 700+ foot pounds and 300+ HP doesn't mean you really need it do you? Diesels are...

    Exhaust Temps

Killer et all, some companies don't get it while others do. A shop that might place it down the pipe is likely got experience with draggsters and race cars - not that I do. Now of course you have another benifit to this ordeal, you could run a pre and post turbo pyro now! I agree pre is better...
