    Truck Registration

118 the other day, here in northern Washifornia.

    Block Serial ID

You are correct. I didn't mention it. I did notice it but in the end forgot to mention it. :)

    Block Serial ID

I don't see the grinder marks. I do see horizontal scratches across the upper numbers. Could have been made by someone rubbing with their fingers. But they also look like file marks. Occam's razor says they are finger rub marks. Here's the thing, though. Those numbers were not stamped in by...

    Grab Handles

It's barely big enough to get my hand through. No way my 'noggin' would even begin to fit. :)

The problem with new brake shoes and the parking brake.

The extra information about the actuators is gold! I hadn't thought of that, for some reason. But yeah, if one side of that is wearing, then so is the other. Maybe have a look at the actuator and build it up with a bit of weld as well? And thank you for mentioning where I got the pics and info...

"Tank" my 91 Crew Cab Dually

Yup. Stick with getting the mechanicals and frame as perfect as you can. Body work can always be done later at a more leisurely pace.

I'm sorry about that. In pennance, I am going to try to match your reaction score to your post count. LOL Let's see, that's about a hundred likes I got to hit. Time to get cracking. :p

Drilling holes was around, a long time before modern machinists were. The bit was called a bit. The drill was called a brace. What machinists there were, called them the same. When powered drills were invented, the machine was called a drill. Modern machinists adopted their nomenclature after...

In my world, the drill has always been the drill, and the bit has always been the bit. The confusion has only come in with the younger generations being too lazy to learn the nomenclature. And especially with the internet. Call it the wrong thing, once, and suddenly the entire world calls it...

Getting harder to start. Slow cranks then faster cranks.

Yep. Sounds like you need a new starter.

    1989 F-250 7.3 Project

I haven't done anything special to my truck. But I can tell you that if you put the factory size tires on, the truck looks like it's on roller skates. Best way I can describe the look. Doesn't make the ride any better. In fact it was a bit harsher. I put yokohama geolandar M/T G003 LT255 /85...

Buying 85 IDI ATS turbo motorhome!

You can easily move your entire rig that way. You'd be surprised how much force it has. I have moved vehicles around in the yard that way. (Sometimes a rig will be in an awkward place where you can't use another truck to pull it, and you can't find your come-along. LOL) Rig up the chain, stand...

    Rats!

Thank you. I didn't see that, for some reason.

    Rats!

Also, down toward the end of the video, I tried to hold the camera steady so that you could see that every time the squeak is heard, the belt tweaks backward toward the engine. Tweaks by maybe a 32nd of an inch. You can see it best on the top of the tensioner pulley, if you hold your eye, (or...

    Rats!

Ok, not a rat, but it sounds like it. LOL My belt jumped off. I replaced the tensioner. It was cracked, so yeah it actually needed it. Didn't replace the belt, because the belt has less than 10k miles on it. With the tensioner replaced, new idler pulley, etc... I am now hearing a squeak...

We got more snow than that before the middle of october! And... I actually live in what is called a micro-climate. Index gets way more precipitation than even some place as close as Gold Bar, but I get about 30% more precipitation than Index. Regardless of what google says. And not far down...

The Official "Show Us Your Ride" pictures of member's trucks thread.

Call me a hillbilly if you want. I do the same thing. I don't have water unless I haul it in. My 91 has the 450 gallon tank in it. And it does just fine hauling that tank of water up and down my two miles of gravel road, and up and down my 32 degree and greater incline, gravel driveway!

What is this thing you call 'salt'? We get a LOT of snow! Probably easily ten times what you guys get. We just don't use salt on the roads. You ask me, it's a conspiracy by the automotive industry to sell more cars...

    Jesus Freak's WMO tow truck

Makes total sense. You don't know what you don't know, so it's always good to ask! I'd test probe down at that foot switch. Figure out which wire is positive only when the bright switch is on. CUT that wire, leaving a good long stub on the switch. Then tie into the stub of it. Run that wire...

So what did you do with your truck today?

The bags do work. With Bigelow being the best I've found. But they don't work nearly as well as fresh. I wish I could get the plant to grow where I live. Too many trees or something...
