6.9 will not rev or idle right until return line is plugged

Did you replace the "olives" on all the hard lines?? Looks like they are leaking fuel. Also, get a new cowl gasket before you get water in the engine thru the intake (even with the filter assy installed). I placed an old rubber mat over mine since it leaked again with a new gasket after heavy...

IDI Shop in Tennessee for Head Gasket Job?

Get a 7lb radiator cap. You don't really need the 13lb cap & will lessen your engine coolant pressure. I personally use the #328 Stant Lever cap so i can release pressure a little safer than having to unscrew the non-lever caps.

    Door seals

Looks like you need to either replace your door striker or loosen it and move it in, tighten & check clearance. Will move about 3/16" to 1/4" which will pull the lock side of the door into the body. Probably have to adjust it a few times for ideal closure. I've had to do this too my '86 a few...

    Cracked head?

There are no coolant passages in/on the intake manifold. You can see on the flat area where the coolant passages on the head seals (with the gasket). This is probably where it is leaking coolant from the head. You may just need a new intake gasket.

    Cracked head?

No but the 6.9 head does go against the flat of the intake & gasket material (big gasket).

    Trustworthy repair shops in OR?

Why will the 7.3 heads not work? Sure they will. Just open up water jackets at corners & use sleeves at the headbolt holes. Remember, if your 6.9 block is the original, block heater hole over starter may be cracked. Check it.

    Cracked head?

Note the water jackets around the prechambers. I think you have leakage there at the gasket.

    Cracked head?

I would think intake gasket first. If gonna crack, usually at/between valves

re: vac control motor that runs def/floor select

I see some on eBay you can check out (used is not for me on this item). Tasca Ford has them NEW: E0TZ-18A361-A $82+ I have 2 but will have to save one for my present driver that I bought years ago for $50 (3x) at Dobbs Ford here in Memphis on my brother's Fleet Account. If you might have a...

    6.9 valve cover gaskets

You are already seeing it. The tube is right at the top of the oil pan & the engine will 'pump & sling' the oil out while running (internal components moving) along with your blow-by issue. I do not have the clip & bolt at present or I would send to you just to help out.

re: vac control motor that runs def/floor select

Been a long while for mine, I removed the dash I think. I can get the part# tomorrow since I got one each for my other trucks at the time because of 'my luck'.

89 F250 LS Diff and Disk Brakes should slip right under my 86?

I think the bolt pattern stayed the same on E-Vans until early 2000s then went metric route. Spring perch would be different location so would have to be moved for the truck springs. Easiest way to do swap for me.

re: vac control motor that runs def/floor select

You may have a worn out blend door with hinge broken. No fuhn at all to repair, especially in-the-truck. May have a bad selector switch & get another at Pick n Pull. Pull whole switch out of dash The vac motor can be replaced in the truck (if you are a midget or removing the front seat). Can...

    6.9 IDI at a loss.

Quick question for the advancing timing operation. About how many degrees translates to inches. Like is it 1/16 in for ever half degree or something more dramatic. Thank you If you do not have a timing meter, degrees will not translate. We use 'dimes thickness/width' as a safe measure of...
