    Streering Box

Ran into some other front end problems. Found a seized knuckle joint and a seized vacuum hub cartridge. Replaced U joint and steering damper, left hub cartridge out and put it in tool box in the pickup. So now when I put the hubs in I really put he hubs in. The steering box was returned as I am...

    Ghost EGR

Been busy with front end. New question, how much does eliminating the EGR circuit alter the fuel/air mixture. Apparently not much or it would be on the boards somewhere.

    Ghost EGR

EGR was replaced under warranty at 93k now have 103k. Thinking about buying an EGR valve and plugging into it with out installing it. Thus "blocking" the EGR circuit but the computer still operating the new uninstalled(ghost) valve to prevent codes.

    Streering Box

Ordered a new steering box today. Flushed the fluid system with 2 gallons of fluid. Things went down hill fast. Instead of pulling left all the time it went to surging left hard or soft slow or fast sometimes pulsing so fast it was like a sever shimmy(death wobble). I could take my hands off the...

    how much is too much

depending on the mix you could be maxed out on weight. By rock do you mean washed 1 inch or do you mean right out of the crusher fines and all? finishing grade gravel is very heavy per cubic yard. Imagine a concrete block the size of your pickup bed, wet finishing gravel would be close.

    Streering Box

Howdy, been awhile since I have been here. Bought an '06 6.0 in November. 250 King Ranch 4 door short box 4X4. Clean Oasis except EGR valve at 93k. Currently 104k and seems to be solid. I did have the rear drive shaft balanced, factory weights were 180 off. My problem is the steering wants to...

How much air restriction can I do?

k_william is it possible your heater core is partially plugged restricting the amount of hot water? Do you have an after market temp gauge installed? Do you have sufficient air flow through the heater and it is the air temp that is not warm enough?

how long does your fuel filter last?

    Question about operating temp

My rig runs 200 degrees running empty and 230-235+ loaded on a hot day. Different motors, different radiators, different pumps, different stats, different fan assemblies. I can hear and feel when my fan comes on. Mechanical gauge with temp verified.

    4.10 vs 3.55

I think you would like the 3.55s and probably the 3.05s doing what you're doing. I would be careful about towing in overdrive at low RPMs due to low pressure/volume. My rig seems to like about 2500rpms when pulling hard.

Cruise not worked since rear end change?

The '91 and older IDIs used a speed sensor on the tranny tail for everything but Rear anti lock brakes, that sensor was on the rear end. The cruise cancel on these was a vacuum break switch on the brake pedal. The speedo is mechanical but there is also a speed sensor as stated, this runs the...

    Radiator Core Support

Just for more info, my '88 had the tall radiator and my '91 has the wide radiator. The '91 came from the factory without ac but now has ac.

    Zf differances

I thought the 300 6 was a FE bell. Not a Ford small block? No It is the same as a 302-351C-351W. In any event the gasser case can not be used if it does not fit a 460. Why not put the gasser guts in the diesel case? If the gasser case is smaller than the diesel that will not work. Which front...

    Need advice on brakes!?!?!?!?

wjb By adjuster are you talking about the threaded part or are you talking about the lever the cable pulls on? If that little lever is worn or not engaging the threaded adjuster the threaded adjuster will back off in a hurry. When adjusting the rear shoes you should be able to hear a solid click...

    Need advice on brakes!?!?!?!?

Hi Jeff, you are talking about me. Through you we found out that calipers are bored out when being rebuilt(apparently not all) thus screwing up the volume balance in the brake system. This creates an imbalance in the master cylinder and exceeds its ability to compensate. Read that minimal...
