    OBS Overheat!!!!

2 gallons of coolant every couple hundred miles is a lot. Whether it's a head gasket that you can't seem to find because it only really happens at operating temperature, or injector cups, or some other symptom, you really need to consider that your engine is drinking 256ish ounces over 250ish...

02 7.3 runs and idles but has miss under load

Just change the CPS, put the old one in your glovebox as a spare. If it fixes your problem, the installation time on the CPS is pretty easy and you'll feel like a million bucks. If it doesn't fix it, you'll be $30 poorer but have a spare for when the new one craps out down the road.

    Project Queso

Nice write up. Great choice on the DeatshWerks pump. have one in my GN and I have accidentally run it out of fuel with no ill effects. I believe Deatshwerks makes the best Walbro style pump. All the other stuff is totally suspect, I installed a Walbro knockoff in my GN and it never made...

    Moving Saturday

Sun Prairie is a nice area, and yes: Spotted Cow is a great local beer up there. It always seemed strange to me that all the PNW beers are everywhere now, but I've never seen anything from New Glarus outside of the MN/Wisconsin area.

    Moving Saturday

Six years ago I did Portland to Chicago in my Powerstroke with a not yet wife and three cats: total Cannon Ball in the Fall as the weather was spectacular for November and I really wanted to make time. When we got to Chicago my wife informed me that I will need a new co-driver for my next...

That's a sweet retrofit: did you say it was twice the capacity of the original tank? How many gallons is that?

    1997 7.3 powertroke E350 no start

When was the last time you changed the crank position sensor? If I recall, a factory tach will read zero RPMs when cranking with a bad CPS, and intermittent CPS issues are very common. I'd buy one just to have a spare. Do a quick google search as there's lots of info on which ones work best...

    Allison 6 speed transmision?

Spec'ing a refuse truck takes a lot of knowledge. I've seen municipalities spec CNG trucks with "all the heaviest pieces because they wanted them to last long", and of course because they were spending other people's money . Apparently a 4000 series Allison with the wrong rearend gears...

I'm back in the IDI game!

Sure: vinegar, a wire brush, wire wheel, etc. I would just make sure you really mark all the pushrods, rockers and hardware to make sure they go back in the same spots when you are done. Again: you got nothing to lose as it already ran with the parts that are in it. Just wondering: what did...

I'm back in the IDI game!

Just pontificating here with a CL in my hand: So assume cooler leaked, engine was warm and some water/glycol came up the pushrods and onto the rockers before it was last shut down. IMNSHO, the water could have promoted all the corrosion, primarily because under the valve covers was exposed to...

I'm back in the IDI game!

Those pics are..........confusing. If I didn't know any better, I'd swear that think was parked on it's side in a lake! Strange that the uphill side of the valvetrain is so rusty, even if it was caused by a bad oil cooler. Whatcha gonna do with all those rusty components? :popcorn

    Allison 6 speed transmision?

The electronics/harness are expensive, but it's very hard to dispute the end results with regards to performance and fuel mileage. Anybody who's ridden in a newer diesel with an auto with 5 or more forward speeds knows the answer. I really stout IDI would definitely benefit, I'd be really...

Complete Super Duty Hydroboost system cost thoughts from anybody who's done it

Just wondering for those of you who've done it: the complete hydro-boost from the brake pedal all the way to the reservoir pulled off of a complete existing F Super Duty. Again, just a ballpark price from somebody who's done it and seen all the unforseen stuff come up along the way. I am...

    Spare tire hardware interchangeability

So I'm looking for a spare tire and all the hardware to put it under a 1996 F250 gasser. So I have a dually OBS with a below tank spare tire carrier, so I am super familiar with that hardware (it's in fact out of my truck right now). Here's some other stuff I think I know: I also know that...

Welcome aboard Mike. I used to live in Vancouver and spent lots of time working in Medford, Grants Pass, Kalamath Falls, etc: awesome part of the NorthWest. One day I will get down to fish the Rogue, just a little too far away and a little too busy with a little one right this second. In any...

E350 dually motor home wheels: are they the same width/offset as truck rims?

I'm looking for a spare set of wheels for my truck, seems like a lot of them available off of E350 motorhome chassis. I know the E350s never went away from the 8 x 6.5 bolt pattern, but does anybody have any insight on offset, width, etc? Thanks in advance
