    TAKING BETS! 75k mile 5.4 3v SEIZED

I love to gamble: something in the valvetrain broke, valves are crashed into the piston BTDC. It doesn't explain why it won't go backwards, but that's my wager. The modular engines seem to have lots of valvetrain/phazer issues. Kind of a tough deal to do any in frame analysis, most folks...

    Good 3 way ball valve

Get a brass ball valve. Stainless steel is really tough to get to seal with NPT threads, if you don't use the right lubricant/sealer you will almost always smear the threads and get a leak.

I'm back in the IDI game!

So I'm a three strikes rule kind of guy. Counting me, you now have three people suggesting you privately ask this person to make this right, or publicly flush out this potential Hall of Shame candidate. It's pretty simple: whether I knew it or not, if I sold you something as forked up as that...

    ATF in fuel filter

In my opinion, the added viscosity and lubricity are what makes this trick work. The injectors are hydraulically "fired" and they should go off a little higher with ATF versus ULSD as the slightly higher viscosity helps at the pump and the injectors. Your injector pump loves a dose of ATF as...

    1991 F350 4X4 IDI Ambulance - $3,500 Atlanta Area

The fact that that's a F350 ambulance and not a van chassis is pretty significant IMNSHO. If that was closer and an OBS instead of bricknose, that might have to be my "poor man's Quigley Sportsmobile". Somebody on here should snap that up as it's too cool to go anyplace else.

Anybody put 17" dually wheels on an OBS?

Thanks for the creative thought of machining the hub to match the wheels. I can honestly say I never thought of that. It reminds me of the first time I saw somebody turn a diameter down pm a vertical milling machine with the part in the drill chuck and a cutting tool in the Kurt vise. All...

Anybody put 17" dually wheels on an OBS?

I've dug through the old threads, just looking to see if anybody has put any other brand of 8 x 6.5 dually wheels on an OBS truck. I feel like the correct Alcoa dually wheels for these trucks are getting as rare as hens teeth, but there are lots of newer Chevy and/or Dodge wheels out there that...

Starts right up, runs rough, dies

Nice catch! Great diagnosis technique. I have a Facet pump in my toolbox for transferring fluids, but this shows it's worthwhile having one for this type of trouble shooting. Treat yourself to a cold beverage as a reward

Rear main seal leakage - should I use a stop leak? [1994 IDI w/ turbo]

+1 on riphip’s response, you could also get it super clean and then do the black light oil additive to confirm if it’s engine oil and/or the exact location of the leak. Good luck, oil leaks can be tough but rewarding to fix!

what is needed for a disc brake conversion on a sterling 10.25 axle?

Here’s a good read on converting to read disks using E350 van parts. Do a search on rear disk coversion, lots more info on various sources but imnso this is the best way to get rear disks. I will also state that everybody who does hydro boost brakes says that is the best use of time and money I...

    would you buy?

Nevermind reading mine: I write it late last night and realized I never pushed the post button. Listen to Bismic & Pearl, they have lots of 6.0 PSD experience.

    would you buy?

I would recommend a couple of things. For starters, see what you can find with a Carfax or VIN search. Depending on what the VIN search tells you, I would suggest putting a monitor on it and looking at the coolant to oil temp delta while driving it with a load or up a long grade to see where...

    I hate TTB axles

+1 on the adjustable upper ball joint. I might also talk to another shop to get a second opinion on your alignment. I had a TTB on my red and white truck that wore tires very well at >250K miles. They can be made to wear tires pretty well.

    truck problems

Did your fuel filter light come on? On my old truck, I put a diagnostic quick disconnect so I could measure actual fuel pressure upstream and downstream of the filter, kind of keeping an eye on what pressure the lift pump was making as well as taking a look at pressure drop as the filter filled...

    Axle swap brake issue

Two questions: Did you swap the pedal to a hydroboost brake pedal? Did you swap the master cylinder to something that matches the axles you swapped in?
