Deal alert on 3g alternators reman

I went ahead and ordered one yesterday too. Hard to pass up at that price.

I pulled the old 86 out of the weeds

Yes, it's the 92. I would think you could modify the cast iron master cylinder similarly. If you go with the larger 1-5/16" master cylinder, I would modify the pedal. Its all about keeping the same volume of fluid pushed out for the same amount of pedal travel. That 2 hours didn't include...

I pulled the old 86 out of the weeds

I used my original 1-1/8” master cylinder with the hydro boost conversion, and I did not modify the pedal arm. I’m very happy with how it works. I elongated the bolt holes in the MC and made a simple bushing to keep it centered in the hydro booster. I didn’t even open up the brake lines so I...

Alternator putting out low voltage/injector replacement

I still think you need to check your batteries individually. Even at 13.2v charging, you should still be seeing a fully charged battery bank after running a while.

    Inaccurate tach?

When I first got my truck, I was concerned that someone had swapped from 4.10’s to 4.56’s. The tach was off that much. I had bought a junk cluster off of eBay to replace the odometer screen that had turned black, and I put the parts tach module in by accident when putting things back together...

Alternator putting out low voltage/injector replacement

Try disconnecting the ground from one battery and check again. Repeat with the other battery. perhaps you have a weak cell in one of your newish batteries

    Blue Devil Sealer, now what?

If it’s been holding for a year, I’d probably let it be for now. Head gasket replacement is one of those jobs that can grow exponentially in time and money. If compression is good, and it’s running fine, and the leak is stopped I would call it a win and keep driving it.

    It's alive

I used the top coolant port on the driver’s side head, towards the rear. It’s the same port that would be for the cold idle switch on the passenger side head towards the front.

So what did you do with your truck today?

I pulled this home With this inside. It’s not mine, I’ll be doing a little work on it though. It’s ridiculous how small this thing is. Truck runs great though good power, EGT’s stay really low. Highest I saw was 960, and that was with my foot in it accelerating up hill. Only issue I’ve had so...

    OBS Door Speakers

I installed some Rockford fosgate 6.5” component speakers in my 92 doors. They have the separate tweeters. I don’t recall doing anything other than adding a screw hole or two, but that was about a year and a half ago.

    Whats these parts?

Assuming yours is similar to mine, there is a vacuum valve (I’ve read it called a vacuum dump) mounted on the pedal assembly. It’s adjustable. The body of it is plastic and threaded, and it’s mounted in a stamped sheet metal retainer. Like everything in that area, it’s hard to get a good look...

    Whats these parts?

That’s funny, does the cruise kick off if you hit the horn?

    Whats these parts?

Mine is an early '92 at that. I think 2/92. It has V belt accessory drives

My ‘92 OBS has vacuum cruise control.

    4.56 gears???

I think that may be a little high but I haven’t priced one lately. You could probably do it yourself and save quite a bit.

7.3 IDI Turbo - Knocking - Rough Idle

Time wise to just pull one out, and put the other in is probably a long day maybe two for your first time. That’s assuming you have an engine hoist, and a transmission jack. What adds time for me is all “while I’m in here” things. Water pump, thermostat, oil cooler, lift pump, front and rear...

    4.56 gears???

Rock, Did you check out the Grimm Jeeper link I posted? It’s a gear ratio calculator. They have all the ratios loaded for the different ZF transmission models. You enter in tire size and axle ratio, and it will tell you road speed and RPM in any gear. I still think 4.56 is the way to go for...

7.3 IDI Turbo - Knocking - Rough Idle

Yes sir. There are only a few things you’d need to change. First, is the oil feed for the turbo. Where it feeds on the turbo block is 1/4” npt. That same port on an N/A block is 1/8”. Other than that there is no difference that I have found between the two blocks. The remaining differences are...

    New injectors and injector lines?

It makes sense to me that it would be ideal for them all to be the same length. Therefore if you’re the engineer designing it you just make them all the same length. Whether or not it makes a noticeable difference on a 30 year old engine for there to be a 1” shorter line on one cylinder IDK.

7.3 IDI Turbo - Knocking - Rough Idle

From what I understand, that’s the most likely. Especially with the running rough. Oil coolers tend to put oil in the coolant. Oil pressure is higher than coolant pressure there. Head gaskets and cavitation put coolant into oil because both leak coolant into the crankcase. If you do a...

    Mudflaps

Even the owner operators have customers to answer to. I wouldn’t be surprised if a lot of the companies they lease to or contract with have policies against things like that.

I think the next step should be a compression test.

    4.56 gears???

http://www.grimmjeeper.com/gears.html Play around on there. If you mean what you say, I’d go with 4.56. On my truck 4.10 and 245/75-16 let’s me cruise 75 or 80 just fine

    Wheel bearing tightness?

If you let the front suspension droop, can you not get the radius arm free of the bracket? I’ve never actually done radius arm bushing but I was thinking there was room.

"Engineering Study Exchange Program" Decal on ZF-5 (1987 F-250)

This seems like the most likely scenario to me.
