New Factory Steering Wheel or Cover Options?

What about the brick nose column? Any factory options? I also am looking for wheel upgrades. I've got moderately worn factory wheels and would love an alternative. I want to keep my cruise though.

Al - Have you ever heard of running two tie rod dust boots to help stop this rotation and "pop". I was reading about this and found reference to running multiple tie rod boots as a way to help stop this. Not as nice as the Ruff stuff part, but wondered if it's an alternative. Also what...

Good looking engine. Really sharp. What did you coat the bolts with? I might have missed in in the thread.

The quest for a better paint job: Step 1 Paint Booth

Looking good man! Regarding makeup heat my plan is to spray, then evacuate for 5-10 minute to remove over spray between coats. If my heat doesn't keep up then my plan is to spray all my coats and then evacuate 10ish minutes at the end to pull the over spray. I've sprayed a lot with very little...

    Hvac question

I don't know if you have to pull the dash. Probably need to pull the radio, heater controls and glove box. I think that would give enough access to check all the vacuum fittings. I had a red hose behind the radio on a door actuator that was unhooked. There is also a connection on the...

Tie rods and related steering components

Mblaney is probably the best rebuild with part numbers I've seen. I've heard a lot of good comments regarding XRF steering parts. They are a little hard to find though. But are priced right and are supposedly good quality. I keep hearing Moog isn't the end all be all of steering as they once...

    Finally fixed the rattle...

No clue why they break, but seems like there are a few here and there get posted about breaking. The design of the mount is crap. It seems to work well enough, but I've seen a lot of bent ones also. Your bumper Lift is something I've been looking for, but the dept of war, Finance and...

    Visor removal question

Laser I think most of those holes are in the double walled area. So probably little concern for getting into headliner. I would tap the holes down slightly then fill them. The way I plug holes is to weld at the edge with many short bursts until done. Don't come at it too down.

    4wd DNE2 Project

I currently have my T-19, US gear, 205 supported on the US gear. But when I swap to the ZF-5, US gear, 1356 I plan to continue supporting under the US gear, but wonder about putting a U-mount up to catch the ZF also. So the ZF and US gear would be on a mount, but only tie to the frame at one...

1993 Ford F-Super Duty XLT - "Log Truck" (new to me truck-pic heavy)

You know I've pulled many a tranny in my truck with two ratchet straps up over the frame tied to the nerf bars. Works better than you would think. I also am a fan of the floor jack with a board on it. I have a tranny adapter thing, but it sucks. Good luck on the reinstall! Jeremy

    Pitman Swap, Is this right?

Hey guys Thanks for the reassurance. Being a taper fit and my first time I wasn't sure what to expect. Rechecking the torque after driving a while is a great idea. I'll definitely do that. Thanks again guys, your reassurance it greatly appreciated!! Jeremy

    Pitman Swap, Is this right?

Swapped pitman arms on my crewcab tonight. Anyway I got the job done but got a question. Is the pitman arm on far enough? The arm didn't seat as far as the original arm. The nut is fully engaged on the threads and is torqued to 170ft-lb per the book. I couldn't get my impact on it without any...

Interesting thanks for showing. What do you think did that? Stinks a $65.00 part causes that much work. You have a tranny jack to pull that e40d? Thanks, Jeremy

IDI factory turbo, oil feed line

That oil line uses "olives" for gaskets. A good diesel shop should have them if you want to fix the factory stuff.

    plastigauging...

Yeah is there any chance that the girdle would hold things slightly different thus showing a slightly different plastigage reading? Maybe. I would use bolts. My thought is bolted up cold not spinning 3600 rpm it won't matter. I'm definitely no expert though.

    Let's talk Overdrives vs Gears

I've looked at doing the ZF-5 to ZF6 swap. To me the gear ratios aren't enough different to do the swap. Also the ZF6 swap is fairly expensive and I've read that the clutches people have put together don't have very nice pedal feel. Now I was comparing it against my US gear/t-19 combo at the...

We've got a bubbler. Bubbles in the coolant overflow tank

yeah I would try the kit like CPdenton posted. Next thing I would try is use one of the cooling system pressure kits. Put pressure on the cooling system overnight and see where you have coolant getting to. If it ends up in the cylinders you'll need to remove the glowplugs so you don't bend a...

Rust Inhibitors. Fancy name for either self etching primer and paint or just spray o

My carpet came from Rock auto. It was made by ACCmats. Lots of places sell it. I think it was around $200 for my crewcab with the mass backing on the carpet. Keep at it. Grind, replace, prime. Floor is a great place to learn. Rust repair sucks though. I know why shops don't like doing it.
