pulling it today and its 20 degrees outside... thankfully all these bolts are nice and easy to crack ;Sweet. We're also living in this truck... thankfully it has a wood burning stove in it... Gary, can you give me the minimum clearance? Hoping to have the heads at the machinist Monday...

    head stud leaking

I'm planning on taking the head to have it resurfaced. Perhaps i'll look into the stone method. I'll keep you posted, and send the timing meter first thing tomorrow morning. good idea? bad idea? seems like the jury is out on resurfacing 6.9 heads... but both machinists I talked to said...

    head stud leaking

i tapped all the holes with a bottoming tap, and ARP head studs. I put some sealant on the stud and reinstalled it. Put the overflow line for the rad into a cup of water and it's bubbling pretty bad. I'm pretty sure the scratch is leaking. It's a small scratch, but it was going almost...

    head stud leaking

thanks for the help. The gaskets were installed correctly, the heads were cleaned and magnafluxed. We somehow put a scratch on the head transporting it that is in the area of where it's leaking. It's a tiny scratch, we thought it would be fine, but doesn't seem to be. Sorry about the...

    fast idle solenoid height problem

yeah the fast idle is different, as well as the throttle arm. They're both taller and the IH throttle has governor springs on it. The solenoid would have to be lowered about 1/4 inch to work... 1/2 inch to look perfect. I'm not sure if the ford solenoid is installed at a different angle...

    fast idle solenoid height problem

I'm putting a baby moose onto my international 6.9. It all went in great.. only problem is the height of the fast idle solenoid. It sits about a 1/2 inch above the lever. I'm not too worried about it because you can adjust the throttle with a spinny dial in the cab (no idea what this is...

What was the best looking IDI from Ford series and so forth?

IH put the 6.9 in the best looking truck... the 1600 quad cab. I'm a bit biased though

    IP return fitting size?

this is the last thing i need.. but i'll ask him. From looking at fittings it seems to be 3/16" (1/2"x20) brake line fitting. From reading around it seems like everyone just ends up using 1/8" NPT .. i have some fittings here and they don't seem to thread in as well as the elbow...

    IP return fitting size?

I'm finally putting the fuel lines on my truck and am going to replace them with soft lines. I have all the info i need for the inlet fitting (ORB-5).. but i can't seem to find any info for the return. I''d like to simply thread in a hose barb into the check valve. What size is that fitting...

    Build Thread: S-1600 Housetruck

2 days into it and we've made good progress. Everything is off the front of the truck: hood, radiatior, shroud, front pillars, alternator, PS pump, and all hoses. I'll have some photos when i figure out how to put them on my computer. I'm going to wait to buy lifters when i see how they...

    where to buy lifters?

well perhaps that's good news. I was told to just go ahead and replace them with the cam as they're wearable? I guess i'll just plan on giving them an inspection and using the ones which look good.

Cam Removal Tool wanted to rent PLEASE

I'm hoping I won't have to replace the cam bearings as there shouldn't be anything wrong with them. I do however still want to find the handle which attaches to the front of the cam as i'll be doing this swap in a barn with no ability to fabricate a handle.

    where to buy lifters?

Where do you buy your lifters? Rockauto has AC Delco lifters for 35$ each which seems really steep. Fleabay has a set of 16 Enginetech lifters for $151.

    F-800

IMO it'll either one of the greatest tow vehicles every (if it's been taken care of). Or it'll be a giant headach... and you'll be turning wrenches on your tow vehicle. I personally would go for it... but i also tend to enjoy journies more than destinations.

    International 1600 uhaul truck

i own an s-1600. I can send you some photos of what everything looks like if you want. Don't know much about the ford IDI's but from my understanding it's the same motor with different acessories. A ford 3G alternator fits without major modification so you don't have to worry about that. If...

    Build Thread: S-1600 Housetruck

It's finally time to start opening up the 6.9 in my housetruck. The truck has an external headgasket leak. While the heads are off we're going to do a bit more to it. We also run the truck on WVO and have a centrifuge on the rig to spin the oil while we're driving. We're making a bunch of...

    typ4 cam installation

Thanks for the tip on the gear. I'm going to take a look at the cam when it's out and see if replacing all that is something i'm comfortable with. If not i'll take it to a machinist and have them press it all on and off. I was thinking about doing the lifters... just wasn't sure if it was...

    typ4 cam installation

I'm doing a bunch of work on my truck because i'm fixing an external head gasket leak. One of the things will be a typ4 cam. I see a lot of theads talking about the cam, but few about actually istalling it. I'd like to keep the block in the truck (s1600 so there's a lot of room) will this be...
