Verifying the year of my chassis or at least the E4OD

Thanks Mike. A little more reading and I guess I didn't change the speed sensor but rather the RABS sensor on the diff. Guess I'll get a speed sensor and try that agian.

Verifying the year of my chassis or at least the E4OD

So much to this story, I'm not sure where to begin. But it boils down to this; I've read on a thread or two here that mixing the wrong ECU with and E4OD can burn it up. About 6 months ago I had a tach issue that was resolved with a new ECU. Since then the truck has alway shifted firmly. 1-2...

Who Said Ford Trucks Are Worthless

That aftermarket signal switch is a great fix for the OEM and jobber replacements which are junk. They need to be replaced every few years, unless you like working with noodles. Beautiful truck.

    Typical car axle ratings?

If you know what the axle is our of, look up the specs for the curb weight of the car online. Divide by 2 (roughly) and add a few hundred pounds for fuel and humans. That should be pretty close to factory rating.

F800 battery problem has me stumped

Just went through something similar. Had bought 2 new 1000cca batteries about the same time I did a bunch of other things. After a few days I started having the slow crank after an overnight sit and little chance of starting without a boost. I replaced the starter, alternator, regulator and all...

This is why you dont use ether on diesels!!

Here's a good use for ether. We used to do this all the time with semi tires to get the bead started. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vLtBojvDEyc

    Anyone wanna trade rear bumpers?

Email is right.....just a domain I've owned for a long time. I registered in Canada, hence the .ca rather than .com. The Class should be on a sticker somewhere. If not, does it have a brand and model number, could figure it out with that. If neither of those, what was it from F150, F250...

    Anyone wanna trade rear bumpers?

The PO (or the PO-PO) just ran 4 bolts through the frame from the side (2 on either side), if that makes sense. So any weight on the bumper is only supported by the shear strength of 4 bolts and only on the last 6-7 inches of the frame. To top it off the holes in the truck frame are larger than...

    Anyone wanna trade rear bumpers?

Since your 2.5 hrs away can you email me a few pics? Is the hitch mounted on something? What class is it? Bob at vergeer.ca

    Anyone wanna trade rear bumpers?

@argve: That is part of the problem right now. The 2" receiver is welded to the bottom of the bumper so it is entirely relying on the bumper mounts for strength. No idea what the receiver rating is. The structure of the bumper itself on the other hand is pretty serious stuff. Definitely looks...

    Anyone wanna trade rear bumpers?

I just wanna trade for a regular bumper and frame hitch ( class IV). This one doesn't have the proper mounting hardware to meet it's 1000/10000 towing capacity (according to the sticker) and I would rather swap than have to fab something up. Well, that and we are looking for a pull-behind...

    michigan snow

Some of the weight recommendations are way to high. You want just enough to give your sidewalls a little flex and only over the rear axle. Sand bags or fine crushed rock for the reasons mentioned above. And also as mentioned above many times, slow and steady wins the race. To much weight to...

    Tach sensor still not working?!

Stopping at 1500 and hanging there on decel almost sounds like the tach needle is hanging up somewhere. Is that what it was doing before you changed the sensor out? I had an issue with the volt meter on my 89. When I pulled the gauge out to test it I found that a little tit on the back of the...

    fuel gauge issue

Just a little something I found a few weeks ago. I was trying to figure out why my volt gauge was always stuck at the same spot (~9 volts). My charging system tested out fine and the wiring all the way to the gauge tested out fine. The issue turned out to be the little black hat the sits over...

    E4OD Schematic

OK, I officially must not know how to use a multimeter for AC I guess. It has a 500 and 200 setting on the V~. I set it on 200, attached the neg to ground and the pos to the green/yellow. That gave me a reading of 4.5 while the truck was running, cold and the tach was dead. I waited for it to...

    E4OD Schematic

crap, I stopped getting email updates on this thread for some reason. Not sure what a signal generator is supposed to look like, but I can get the sensor and cluster tests done tonight. As for the OD light, mine is off and is actually dead until the tach starts working again, then it operates...
