Guess I'll go ahead and update this thread. Truck is now registered and insured and pulling it's first load today which amounts to a small trailer with a riding mower on it.
Here it is when I first drove it home from the farm.
Parked in the shop.
Some pictures of the rotten brakes.
So...
I'm going to try and make it. Doubt it will ever be closer to home.
Reading the trans woes here I will admit when I bought my truck in 07' it already had a Ford reman E4OD in it.
I run a large trans cooler and temp gauge but once when picking up hay in 08' it got over 280*F (no air flow over...
So my success on Monday was tempered by the events of yesterday.
I decided it was time to get the windows sorted out. Since the driver side door panel was already off I started there. All it took was some WD40 on the window regulator and tracks and good to go. Even fixed the slight cocking of...
Man I seem to have a hard time staying current on here. Lots of work out of town lately. Not much time on the internet.
So since our last installment I have repaired/replaced the rear brakes, and tried unsuccessfully to retrofit a leftover braided stainless brake line from my 6.0 to the rear as...
Well Holidays have been crazy and I haven't even gotten around to picking up the truck from the farm until yesterday.
Brakes were horrendous. It was strange because they were hard as a rock and I was thinking bad vacuum pump. But after 10 miles down the road the assist came back. Probably still...
Hey guys/gals it's been a really long time since I've been on here but due to some really strange circumstances I now have my 93' F350 back.
Did a little looking around and see some familiar names in here. Good to see ya'll are still here.
The short long story is that in early 2012 my now ex...
Have you checked the fuses for the instrument cluster, the speedometer memory, and the Trans computer. If any of them is blown you will get rough shifting. Of course if the instrument cluster or Speedo memory are blown it will be obvious (no speedometer).
I've had the same cooler on the 93 since 08. It works amazingly well. I had originally purchased the thermostat that goes with it but it didn't work well so I took it off after 3 days. My temps are close to yours. Average 150 - 165 depending on ambient temps. Towing less than 200°.
You will be...
Low pressure falling 25psi when switch cuts out. High pressure rising 315psi when low pressure switch cuts out. Ambient temperature 85 degrees. I am inclined to think the compressor is good due to the pressures it can achieve. Also the charge isn't low. Just a blockage which is causing the high...
Well for reasons related to the big "D" I haven't been on here for a while. Unfortunately I will be losing the IDI in the divorce. Not to worry I still have 2 6.9's I'm slowly assembling and will eventually find something to put one in.
On with my question. Last weekend I drove the IDI for a...
I would have to dig up the info but I was able to use a standard trade size ?? O-ring for my intake hat to manifold connection. It's been 4 years since I figured out the size so I don't remember off hand exactly. Not much help I know but just wanted to let you know it's possible.
And my past...
Truck in question is a 2006 F250 King Ranch.
So about 2 months ago my battery light came on while driving one day. It didn't stay on long but I knew it was the start of some issue. I have been closely monitoring my voltage at the ECU since about 2 weeks after that first sign as it kept...
Man don't go overboard on this especially if money is tight. Just get the o-ring needed and be on your way. It'll cost you $2. More than likely your heater is fine but at the age of these trucks the rubber parts in the fuel system are all turning to mush.
I replaced mine a few years ago and...
Here is what I made for mine. I sized it for a 315-75/16 tire. It works well enough. Minimal loss of bed space and it's not loose/moving around.
Here you can see it in place.
It doesn't interfere with the gooseneck at all. I know it's not for everyone but it's been working for me. Hope...
A heads up the filters that international sells are the exact same Racor manfactured filters as the ford dealer. Only they are about $35 instead of $100. (Ford is crazy)
I might do this myself. Hmmm.
Carry on.
The 5r110 is a great tranny. Very stout. But it does not unfortunately bolt up to the 7.3 directly.
I have had exceptional good fortune with my E4OD. A huge cooler is what keeps it alive. And once while getting up hay my wife forgot to put it in 1st gear and it got up to 280* (even with the...
O.K. I usually don't respond to the 6.0 bashing. Today is different. My 06' 6.0 now has 125k miles on it. I turned a wrench on it for the 1st time last sunday to replace the dummy plugs in the high pressure oil rails. Was so clean you could eat of it inside. I was very amazed at how clean this...
I will expound on the virtues of long hauling the IDI. In the 16 months I daily drove it I put about 28K miles on it. It hauled many 10-15k loads for me and has gotten up lots of hay.I bought it on a thursday in south texas and drove it to virginia that weekend. It has always been a great road...
Cometic will make gaskets if you pay for I think it's 50 sets up front. Then once they make the pattern with your money they will start to sell them right alongside yours. A friend of mine went through this about 4 years ago with BMW gaskets. I've got 3 right now. (2 blown)
I am not saying it...
I'm with Brimmstone on the probes. I looked for almost 3 years before WrickM gave me a probe. That was just dumb luck. (thanks Wrick). And my wife's step father and 2 of her uncles are snap on drivers. They couldn't find one either.
Back in the early 90's I met a guy who was an amsoil distributor. He also sold Frantz bypass filtration systems. He drove a Subaru and at the time had close to 100k on the same oil. He changed his filters every 10k if I remember correctly. That would be both spin on and bypass filters. I didn't...
