Looking for a Western Washington 7.3 IDI mechanic for regular maintenance

Best shop in my area..... Looks at my truck like it is made of stinkum. They'll do the work, but they take forever. (sat for three months without them so much as touching it.) And are expensive. I've heard there is a shop in Duval that is good at working on our trucks... Wish I knew the name...

    Recommendations for AC coolant.

    Yes, I meant refrigerant.

    Recommendations for AC coolant.

I have a hunch it's already set up for 134a. But I am not going to spend a bunch of bucks to find out. Or to buy a vacuum pump or gauges or any other equipment. I am going to just assume it is, and go with a can that already has a hose. I have heard about NOT using a specific kind, because it...

    Recommendations for AC coolant.

Who here has used one of those cans of coolant that you can buy at the auto parts place, to top up the coolant on their AC? How did that go for you? Recommendations for what one to use? How to use it? Etc... Is it worth it to buy the more expensive ones? Or is the cheap one good enough...

So what did you do with your truck today?

70 bucks? For that price, if I do mine, I'll be using some gorilla tape, and some cheap plastic screen from lowes. LOL

You obviously own a timeless classic! LOL

So what did you do with your truck today?

I'm going to be looking for a jack for my truck. LOL If I had had a good one, that day, I could have changed that tire myself, and been back on the road in less than 20 minutes. I need to find a good used aluminum floor jack. My only options are a bottle jack, or a high lift jack. Sitting...

So what did you do with your truck today?

Yep. Part of the saving grace for me there, was the fact I had them at 50psi, instead of 80psi. They are 245/85R16. And I think also a part of the saving grace was the intentionally smart move to mount that particular tire on the passenger side rear. Had I left it on the passenger front, I...

So what did you do with your truck today?

Well, this wasn't today. In fact, it was exactly a week ago. I blew a tire. At 70mph. Surrounded by traffic. Here's the tire. I took the pic as I sat on the side of the road waiting for someone with a jack. LOL Here is a bit of explanation: The green is all the tread that was blown off...

starting after replacing glow plugs, injectors, etc.

Crack the lines at all the injectors, before you turn it over. Then crank only 20 seconds or so, and let it rest a few minutes. Keep doing this, until you see fuel dripping from the lines at the injectors. As each injector shows fuel tighten it up. Leave the rest loose. Crank again. Do this...

    Door latch fix

The one time I had a dor act like that, it was misaligned vertically. The striker post was too high.

    Door latch fix

Oh, it'll go away. LOL This might not have been the fix, but there is another simple fix for the wind noise if this didn't do it.

    Door latch fix

Sounds likely that the post is set too far inward on yours. Do you have to really push, or slam, to get it to latch? If someone in the past tried to "fix' it by moving that post further inward, then when you put on a new one, if you put it in the same position, it's entirely possible for it to...

    Door latch fix

My door was rattling and banging like mad, going down the rocky road I live on. Wind was whistling through, on the road. And I had to slam it every time, just to get it closed. I got fed up with that, and decided to try something. The plastic piece was missing from the post, on the door...

    Tires

Bazactly! And the noise isn't going to suddenly throw my truck out of control, or cause an accident. But I have a feeling that these particular tires are not going to be any more noisy than the ones I have been running.

    Tires

Thank you! I was hoping to hear from some who have used them. And that is pretty much what my friend has been saying. It's the good gription that has attracted me. The noise can be lived with. Strangely enough, it is around 38 to 40 that the hopping and steering is the worst, with the bulged...

    Tires

I am getting a couple of new tires. It's taken me a while to find anything even close to what I have. I have settled for a pair for the rear, that are slightly more aggressive than the old ones. I need more aggressive tires where I live. The ones I have had on there do not get me through the...

So what did you do with your truck today?

I have been getting about 13mpg for quite a while. Usually a little less. Sometimes as little as 10.5 But averaging slightly under 13. Recently got water with my new tank. Didn't need all of it in my storage tank at home, so I left the rest in there. I guesstimate roughly 1000 pounds of water...

So what did you do with your truck today?

I'm looking for tires. But I can't afford much. I'd probably buy just one, used 255/85R16 if I could find one.

I agree with @IDIBRONCO Look for switches from "Switch Doctor", on amazon. They worked for me.
