The accumulator body controls the shift speed and pressure. By changing the springs for each spool valve. You can increase the apply pressure to the clutch packs.
A shift kit should fix the shifting issues. TransGo Tugger or Sonnax Sure cure.
You could get a modified accumulator body (valve body) From RacerX John Woods or BTS. If you don't want to dig into the tranny. Basically the work is done for you. Bolt it up and drive it.:D
If the tranny doesn't move in any gear there are other issues. Without the TCM, the tranny will have forward and reverse. It will start in a higher gear.
Now if the tranny hesitates move, it's no longer electrical, but mechanical.
MLPS is obsolete. It was replaced by a Transmission Range Sensor. This part is now used on all E4s.
DTRS Digital Transmission Range Sensor is used on all 4R100s. This is the digital version.
When you go to buy a range sensor, you might have to call it a neutral safety switch...

As for a cooler. TruCool Max brand by Long. This is a V10 cooler without the Ford brackets. 6.oh cooler is good too.
Once the engine is up to temp the glow plugs do not cycle. The PCM will run the Wait To Start lamp and that is it. Most likely the oil temp sensor is bad causing the glow plugs to cycle. I would fix this before tampering with the wiring.

The TCM relay is on the driver side inner fender. I don't think this is your problem. Most likely the problem is the tach sensor.
A weak or erratic tach signal will cause the tranny to into limp mode. Start there. Try to get the codes pulled. It will make diagnosing a little...
Ford added the bypass to protect the tranny from damage. When the cooler lines plug up the rear section of the tranny will fail. Cause is lack of lube. Usually the output shaft bushing will spin in the case. Most cases are reparable with over sized bushings.

89 to early 97 E4OD line size is 5/16" late 97-98 E4OD and all 4R100s are 3/8" line.
If you use a 6.oh cooler (Dorman) You will need to adapt from 5/16" line to 1/2" fittings on the cooler.
