    Road Trips

Possibly another tread category for us could be stories of road trips in our idi's? Good place to discuss fuel mileage, towing, or even places to vacation. I'll start with our July 4th drive from central PA to northern Maine (Allagash). Nearly 1800 miles round-trip, we averaged 17.1 mpg with AC...

    Roof rack options?

I've been eyeballing some tripod designs for our crewcab that would allow carrying one or two canoes above the cab while towing a 5th wheel camper. Look to be an easy welding project. Two legs incorporated into a headache rack and the third leg connects to a front mount trailer hitch. If you're...

So what did you do with your truck today?

Casually walking thru local salvage yard and looky there! Rare as hens teeth, a real honest to goodness brick diesel badge! I brought it home with me.

I'm still window shopping, however after looking at numerous battery specs the only group 65 numbers I found that are superior are those $300 AGM batteries.

    Pressure washing

I'm long time idi owner and pressure washed it many times however I'm new to the powerstrokes. A lot more electrical stuff on the powerstrokes and I didn't want to damage anything. Agree on the super clean & simple green good stuff.. This truck was used as a plow truck since new. Last two...

    Pressure washing

Are there any concerns about pressure washing the engine and engine bay? Obviously I wouldn't hose down a hot engine, however are there any concerns of water damaging electrical components? Truck is a 2000 F250 PSD 6spd.

Did some "Google"searching and found many saying odyssey 65-PC1750T batteries are exceptionally good in cold weather. Any Oil Burner's out there using these with good or bad experiences?

    75 F350 w/390 swap to 7.3

I have a 74 highboy 4x4 with big block & 4spd, also have a good 7.3 idi with banks turbo sitting in corner of garage. And I"ve consumed more than a few beers pondering this swap. Since idi's were also mated to the old granny gear 4spds and those bellhousings are bolt-on, I'm guessing you could...

    Crewcab Project

Bought these two late last year. Crewcab with underhood electrical meltdown and standard cab with terrible snowplow rust. Both trucks are 4 x 4 7.3 powerstrokes and both have 6 spds. Standard cab only has 128,000 miles! Plan is to swap dash and all electrical wiring out of std cab into cc...

So what did you do with your truck today?

I bought a small diesel backhoe down in VA, used the old black brick to haul it home. Approximately 240 miles, it did OK, certainly wasn't over powered for the job. Some of the hills I had to pay attention to the pyro. Pleasantly surprised at fuel prices in WV were $1.89!

    Project Black Stallion

Yes, clear powder coat is available. I had several cast aluminum diff covers coated with it. Make sure they preheat (gas off) the parts prior to applying powder. Oil & grease clean up is easy and it also eliminates oxidation.
