    Fuel selector valve

    YES; the plastic ends are barbed. The DRAWs are 3/8 and the RETURNs are 5/16. If you come shy a few of the little clips, a plain old zip-tie works just as well; just thread it through/around where the little clip goes and don't tighten it until the end is pushed onto the fitting; once you...

    FSV fuel filter

    That is exactly what I use ahead of the lift-pump on EVERYTHING we own. I buy mine loose out of big paste-board drums by the dozen at swap-meets; three for a dollar. I have never had one leak or fail in any way other than to stop up with crud. :)

    Fuel Selector Valve Nightmare

    You clip the gauge wires loose at the old FSV and route them through a SPDT toggle-switch. Only three wires; the one that proceeds forward to the dash gauge goes on the center terminal; the wires coming from the tanks go on the other two terminals.

    Fuel Selector Valve Nightmare

    Carefully warmed with a heat-gun, the plastic will slide onto barbs. The little factory clip-ends are barbed plastic where the plastic line attaches to them. That being said, now would be a good time to employ TWO inline filters/strainers ahead of the FSV to protect it, seeing as how you...

    Oil Thread...Again

    It was always my understanding that the additive content was lessened drastically, NOT to be compatible with ULSD, but to prevent clogging the emissions equipment on later model engines/trucks. It is also my understanding that anything pre-catalytic-converter should avoid CJ-4 and stay with...

    Oil Thread...Again

    If you live in Kentucky, besides doctors and lawyers, although they probably make much less than teachers in other states, school-teachers are the highest paid members of the community.

    Oil Thread...Again

    I am not knocking AMSOIL in any way; I am sure it is good stuff. But, what I have noticed in my area is that those who demand and regale AMSOIL are the same guys who never keep anything much more than six months. These guys are the doctors, lawyers, school-teachers who can afford the...

    It's Done! The Final 6.9 Project Report! (I hope)

    Heath, Of course my first advice to your FSV situation is to swap in manual valves and ALL problems solved; lacking that, I have a means of eliminating the FSV from the gauge equation. There are only three gauge wires at the FSV, one from each tank and one to the dash. Clip these wires...

    >>> A FEW A/C QUESTIONS <<<

    Until reading the responses, I didn't think my compressor engaged for any selection other than MAX-A/C and NORM-A/C. I am not gonna say it doesn't until I actually check this business out sometime this weekend. :)

    Going the antique route

    I contemplated going the "antique auto" plate route, seeing as how the newest vehicle on the place is a 1991. What I discovered is that the "book"-value, as in taxable value, skyrockets. The puny amount saved on licensing more than quadruples the yearly taxes paid. I would thoroughly...

    >>> A FEW A/C QUESTIONS <<<

    Now we're getting somewhere; I don't hear this "THUMP". I know the "THUMP" you mean, as I used to hear it years ago. I am gonna have the wife to listen for it (she can still hear) and if it is not there, then I am gonna investigate farther. I kinda think that vacuum gizmo is somewhat...

    >>> A FEW A/C QUESTIONS <<<

    From my feeble description, does it read like my vacuum gizmo is moving that door the proper amount ?? I seem to remember being able to see this door when I had the blower-motor out, right ?? Thanks.

    >>> A FEW A/C QUESTIONS <<<

    My truck, 1985 model, factory A/C. Located under the hood, right corner, just in front of the fire-wall and behind the blower housing, there is a vacuum actuator that operates a pivoting rod which I assume opens and closes a door. If the fire-wall was a line running straight through...

    Fuel tank idea

    As for the fittings in the tank's bottom, instead of welding into such thin metal, where stress-cracks and vibration-fatigue is going to cause leaks, use JIC bulk-head fittings instead. These bulk-head fittings have an inner and outer O-ring seal. The fitting is installed through the hole...

    Fuel tank idea

    What you describe is pretty much how saddle-tanks are plumbed on big trucks. The engine draws from only one tank. That one tank has the sending-unit for the gauge. If the truck is used in not-so-level terrain, a cut-off valve is closed between the two tanks to keep fuel from the higher...

    >>> NIPPON DENSO INJECTOR PUMP <<<

    Although it is hard to compare sizes from a picture, I believe my 2-cylinder pump is every bit as big as that 4-cylinder. Other that the injector-lines poking straight up, there are few similarities. Where that pump has the inlet and whatever that other business is, mine has a pump-mounted...

    >>> NIPPON DENSO INJECTOR PUMP <<<

    I have searched and searched to no avail; I need descriptive information, such as a service-manual, for a 2-cylinder ND injector-pump. This pump is on a 1972 2-cylinder Mitsubishi R2500 tractor.(Vietnamese issue) On the tag it reads : NIPPON DENSO ND-PE52A608320RND294 (I believe that...

    Flatbeds...

    My personal truck, a flat-bed, was sitting parked alongside my driveway at home. A guy from the lumber store, driving another flat-bed, delivering a big load of lumber, backed into my truck, side-swiping the flat-bed and scooting my truck about six-feet sideways in the gravel. Had my truck...

    How many fan clutches till I get a good one?

    For what it's worth, the "N" of "NORMAL" on my factory gauge is consistently in agreement with 180* on my mechanical SunPro. Factory dash gauges are as accurate as any electrical gauge; they just lack numbers to go by. Compare several electric gauges and it becomes obvious why the...

    How many fan clutches till I get a good one?

    chevycummins guy makes a good point about the inter-cooler needing constant air-movement. One other very important point to consider is the A/C condensor. With a wimpy clutched fan, A/C performance is gonna suffer big-time whenever stuck in traffic, sitting still, or just easing along...

    OD is being intermittent

    KEY=ON, ENGINE=OFF, probe the wires at the Throttle-Position-Sensor with a volt-meter. The instructions for doing this are in the 1st Gen. "stickies" over at Diesel Truck Resource site. If your TPS shows bad/dead, many have opted for a dash-mounted potentiometer such that they can dial-in...

    How many fan clutches till I get a good one?

    My advice is to put that siezed-up old clutch back on and enjoy. In summer's heat, I have never had anything but grief from fan-clutches. I have several older trucks around here that NEVER had a fan-clutch; and, the fan was the last thing one ever wondered about whenever a cooling problem...
