    I hate drum brakes

To add to my original comment, if you have an older semi floating rear end I would not rebuild them but upgrade to a stronger full floating rear end and rebuild those brakes instead.

    I hate drum brakes

If parts are worn to the point that springs are breaking, you need to rebuild them both completely. Rock auto has very fair prices on kits

    Project Big Blue

Thanks for the kind words guys, not looking for help right now but if anyone knows how to get more hours in the day please inform me! Last weekend I had a trailer rented to pickup one of my containers with the Dually on Saturday, Sunday I hooked it up to big blue and loaded it with a 94 F350...

    Injection pump intake pressure

If it is a marine turbo IDI it will be a db2-831-5090 pump. They are calibrated same as the on road pumps, 5-6.5psi is spec. You won’t harm the pump with that much inlet pressure, but it will throw the calibration off so it’s best to set the pressure lower with a regulator.

    NOS 7.3 turbo engein

ID be most concerned about gear timing being off, most diesel monkeys cant get that right, tech school engine I would not be suprised to see a history of valve imprints on the pistons.

    Jerry rigged hood release ideas?

Clamp the cable sheath down in the engine bay and remove the plastic mounting bracket for the hood release and it will work like factory

    Diagnose this knock?

650 is spec for hot idle, in gear, with the ac on. Adjust it there or slightly higher if you like.

So what did you do with your truck today?

Cmon man put the wifes car up and drive that beast!

So what did you do with your truck today?

If you’re on a budget, get the cheapest one off amazon. They cool better than the stock ones and tend to last 2-3 years, which amazon covers a free replacement without you having to ship the original back.

    Compression reduced pistons

I’ve made over 400hp with a stock engine with stock head bolts, It’s just not necessary to drop the compression for any current attainable power level, only thing you get from lower compression is more valve to piston clearance, which should really be corrected with the valve recession into the...

    Project Big Blue

Not yet, Ive had some issues with the used compressor housing seeping and Im waiting on a replacement to get here from garrett, once I have it on and have full boost with no leaks Ill get the truck on the dyno. With the data from the 0-60 runs, and estimating that the truck weighs somewhere...

Rebuilt Heads Intake won't line up.

Fel pro gaskets are about 10 thou thicker than stock when compressed. Could the deck of the block be the issue?

    Project Big Blue

Yes! And the price when buying by the case is pretty comparable to mid range conventional oil brands.

    Project Big Blue

Got the oil changed out to PDD’s conventional 15-40w, timing adjusted and swapped the fuel filter from a Fram to a wix 33417 for the last run up to Austin this time picking up a lathe, mill, plasma cutter, a few 20 ft metal work benches, metal shelving and some smaller equipment from the fuel...

    Best 7.3 idi build.

Thanks for all the recommendations, if you have any questions about your projects let me know! FYI... Stock pumps are actually calibrated to 67cc peak and 58cc at hp peak, so even an 80cc pump is a good upgrade from stock.

No, I’ve read about guys burning out glow plugs because of advanced timing but I haven’t been able to replicate it even in extreme situations of injection timing, duration and high cylinder pressure, I’ve had the same set of zd9 glow plugs in the shop truck for four engines now, granted I don’t...

Doing install of Wes's turbo kit

Address above is where to send it, if you can try and drain as much fluid from the pump as you can before shipping it to avoid it getting into hazmat, I’ll get it much quicker. Let us know how the truck does, pictures you emailed me look great, looks like it belongs there!

Doing install of Wes's turbo kit

Sure thing ship it to me and I’ll inspect it and rerun it. Other than the issues getting it started, how does the 6.9 do with the turbo now? If you’re going to use the stock 6.9 pump I would go ahead and max it out to help supply the turbo with enough fuel, the 6.9 pump with the smaller plungers...

Who all can mod a ATS/Factory Ford turbo... cheaply?

Off the top of my head the IDI cold wheel sizes are roughly: Stock 093/idit cast wheel 57/70mm 60-1 wheel 60/76mm RnD stage one drop in S257 57/76mm GTX3582 wheel 61/82mm T04Z wheel 62/90mm

Doing install of Wes's turbo kit

First while you have the pump still off, take the top cover off and rotate the metering valve gently with a clean pick, it should move freely with almost no effort. Any drag on it rotating can easily drag on the new valve and it stick shut in the off position and it won’t open to allow fuel flow...

Doing install of Wes's turbo kit

Before condemning the pump I wish you would have called me so I could walk you through a diagnosis on what could be your problem, it’s very common that guys will burn up the solenoid when priming a new pump because the key gets left on too long and it overheats the solenoid since there’s no fuel...

Doing install of Wes's turbo kit

12.57 at the glow plug connector is normal, that means voltage is getting past your relay and your wiring is good, must be you have enough dead plugs that it cant fire.

Doing install of Wes's turbo kit

Sounds like your relay failed or a wire came loose, you can stick a heat gun in the intake to get it to fire without plugs or ether.
