My jingling noise is not very loud, but going down the road you can hear it when the transmission is in gear or not; whether the clutch is engaged or not. I'm thinking somewhere I've got a loose piece of metal. BTW the knocking noise I think I can attribute to a faulty injector, because when I...
Ok guys: I did change the transmission fluid out and it was nasty. Probably the original fluid. Took LuLUBelle out for a drive. No more knocking noise but the jingling noise is still present though not as prevalent. This leads me to think it could be under the hood!!! Ill keep you guys informed...
thanks IDIBRONCO! Ill try that first. I also spoke with a friend of mine who ask that I add one can of STP motor oil treatment to the tranny fluid! He claims it really works, but then he drives a Ford with a T-19 transmission. Hopefully I will find a solution.
Ive got a 5 speed transmission and I have thought about the transmission going out. It doesnt make noise idling, but the it does, going down the road. there is no noise when the clutch pedal is either depressed or not. this is my conundrum!
Well guys it appears LuLu Belle is in need of a throw-out bearing. She makes a whirring/ jingling noise from underneath the chassis. I also hear a "knocking
noise when accelerate. It wont do it at idle only when moving. I guess after 33 years something has to give. Are there anything I need...
Guys, I have been using Delo 15-40 for a long time in mu 89 n/a 7.3. I would normally add about 1 quart of oil every 750-1000 miles; due to oil leaks and the numbers of miles on the truck. Walmart brand was pretty good also, but when I had the chance to pick up Shell Rotella I jumped on it...
Thank goodness we don't have emission checks in the west texas area. The larger cities I understand have them. Out here in oil country we are more concerned with H2S emissions from the oil wells.
my '89 has a 4.14 granny and a 4.10 limited slip rear. I pull my 23 foot horse trailer and find no problem taking off in 2nd. That being said I prefer to take off in 1st due to the heavy oilfield traffic that sometimes makes crossing a road : hazardous. Do I wish I had a lower granny? yes ...
Due to numerous oil leaks, I add about 1 quart per 1000... I also seal coat the parking lot a work for free.................. The oil leaks onto the parking lot and the west Texas sandstorms do the rest.
I dont suppose that truck is in West Texas? Most everything we have out here is beat to death due to the oilfield. 4 year old trucks look like they were drug out of a gravel pit.
Every. Single. Time. I dont see a reason NOT to. If I dont change the air filter I also blow out the air filter & spray the radiator from the engine side, out. WE have hellacious dust storms and I some times drive through tall vegetation. So far , so good.
check the inside of the HVAC box to see if the "flapper door" is operating. If not, try to remove the fan and motor to determine if you have something inside , that blocking the flow of air. I had paper and and other debris in the fan housing and once removed it increased the flow of air...
Ive had real good luck with store brands from Oreilly, of course I use 50/50 coolant; as our ground water is so hard ! One trick to maintaining your core: make sure your core is sitting in a protective sleeve of foam or weather striping to prevent contact with the HVAC box it sits in. This...
I have an 1989 F-250 extended cab pick up with a bench front seat. Its used mostly for driving to work, however I am in need of a new front seat that is not in bad shape. What years model can I look at for a replacement? I would consider captains chairs but prefer a bench seat. Please advise.
Does any one know where I can pick up an inductive amp - meter for my truck. Its the tool you lay on the wire running from the alternator and the needle indicates amps to or from the battery.
May I add that you can try to wrap the nipple with about 5 turns of teflon tape. Ive used it in high pressure gas lines in the oilfield and can attest that it will not blow out even with super high pressure. Weve used it as a gasketing material on several connections. Its worth a try....
Thanks for the info guys! Gonna try to get her back up to ***** this weekend if the creek dont rise and it gets above 55 degree......
.This morning I woke up and it was 90%+ humidity. Go the old gal started and warmed up before coming to work...... LuLuBelle ran like a veritable top...
coasting same thing......im thinking either throwout bearing, rear axle bearings or tranny fixing to give up the ghost. What bothers me it that it is not always constant, especially when the engine warms up or I travel a few miles. Pivot arm bushings???? May be the fan motor? Ill try and...
Ive got a little issue with LuLuBelle my '89 F-250 with a ZF5. IN the mornings when its cool and I take off to go to work I hear a rumbling/ somewhat whining sound emanating from the chassis . Ive checked the drive shaft, and its tight. The fluids in the tranny and diff and full( although I...
my '89 has an unknown number of miles, I know that 200 K is the next milestone. I'm the 3rd owner and I'm pretty sure the IP is not stock. It has red paint on the adjustment screws. Other than not being able to get past 160* temperature, she does all I need.
Heres a bit of info: an aluminum dryer duct of 4" diameter will work with a little modification, to include 2 hose clamps.. Mine has been used for years. During the winter I pull it loose from the snorkel and point it at my exhaust manifold for quicker warm ups. works for me.
