    Oil change interval

Back on the subject of oil filtration. I have a 0.060 orifice feeding a remote turbo. The return is to the oil fill neck, so I can see the volume, and it is substantial. How about I insert a 2 micron, oil filter in the turbo feed line?

    Analog oil pressure gauge

The typical (only?) oil pressure indicator is an analog gauge, a pressure switch, and a resistor on the circuit board that sets the meter at mid range. Swap in an analog sensor, short the resistor, and you have an actual pressure gauge. Is anyone aware of an analog sensor that is internally...

Dieselcraft Model OC-25 I don't find an Amsoil centrifuge.

    Oil change interval

If you are suggesting a Y off the line to the turbo after the 0.060 turbo restrictor, that will not play because I have tuned that restrictor and anything taken from that line would be taking from the turbo. I don't find any info on the "supplied restrictor". I assume it is a separate part...

My remote turbo feed is 0.060" dia. So I can just filter that, right.

    Oil change interval

I have been aware of add on, bypass oil filters for a few decades. The first I encountered were for gas engines and used a TP filter. The bypass concept assumes there is excess oil volume available that can be channeled to a filter parallel to the engine oiling system without decreasing the...

"Model OC-25 Oil Centrifuge with Air Assist Oil Return" I assume the air pump will force the return oil up hill if necessary. If the outlet can be above the return, no back pressure, entry point in the engine, can the air pump be eliminated?

Where is there an overview of complete parts and installation? Any opinions on Dieselcraft Model OC-25?

Ford headlights stink - what to do?

The vans kept the 5x7 sealed beam after the F series went to plug in H series bulbs. I went thru a bunch of the 7" H series but where the classic sealed beam focused with a Fresnel lens in front, the H series focused from the back shell and did a poor job; I called it light splatter. I am now...

Felt like it lost half the engine

Flesh that out. Do you mean do not use Dorman 7.3 PSD valve cover gaskets, any Dorman gaskets, any Dorman parts? And on what experience, study, survey do you base that position?

Felt like it lost half the engine

Define "quite some time ago". I have four Ford gaskets, including the mate to the one that disconnected in Corpus Christi and the one the Ford dealer there installed. They all appear to be identical. So apparently Ford's "updated" didn't take. And It wasn't long ago that there were...

Felt like it lost half the engine

When I find a Motorcraft harness that does not have an undercover connector. Yes, I can safty wire them. But I want to give the industry a chance to eliminate that issue.

Felt like it lost half the engine

And the saga continues. I installed a gasket combo that does not have an under cover connector. These were "Sold by Auto Parts Direct To You and Fulfilled by Amazon." In the harness, the second blue wire - which should have been green - in one harness is shorted the the black wire next to it...

"The red products are so powerful that they require heat to be disassembled. A primerless grade red threadlocker is also available. Loctite® Blue Threadlocker is of medium strength." I have red 271. You think I should drop down to blue? I have removed bolts installed with 271. However, they...

Felt like it lost half the engine

I just spent six hours removing the valve covers; a task that I have done before on this engine, but not lately, and don't want to do again, maybe on the side of the road next time. Because it did, I need to trade "shouldn't" for ain't gona!!!

Felt like it lost half the engine

The pics below are related to injector #3. The oil deflector hold down machine screw screwed it self out, jumped out of the deflector, and managed to avoid the gaping holes in the head. I could only use feel to search for the screw, searched twice without finding it, concluded it was it the...

I would never expect Ford to get rid of the uncover connector. "All depending on maintenance"? What maintenance does an injector get?

Felt like it lost half the engine

If I don't find anything under the valve cover, I intend to swap #3 and #7 injectors, and see if the error moves. What are the gotchas? I have an IDI where O ring thickness is critical. But a failure there just leaks fuel on the engine that was supposed to return to the tank. On a PSD isn't...

    Injector life span

I have a 2001, E350, 22 Ft, cutaway that was a Denver Int hotel shuttle. It weighs 11K. When I got it it could not carry passengers because the passenger door was damaged. It had 525K on the odometer, and I found reman tags on the engine and trans. I figure a company bean counter penciled it...

Ac gurus need a quick answer

The switch on the dryer is a low pressure switch. Monitor the output side of the switch and I believe you will see it correlate with the compressor clutch engagement. With a low charge, the switch will close when the compressor in not engaged, that will allow the compressor to engage, and when...

    Engine oil for 7.3 idi?

Does this discussion have anything to do with money? As it's part of total cost of operation, the most expensive oil mentioned here is still pocket lint.

    Oil change interval

We have been doing these 9K trips for at lest a decade; mostly with the 89 IDI, this year with the 93 replacement, and 2015 and 2016 with a 351W in a 65 Mustang. I don't recall ever using enough oil to get my attention. I also use Rotela T6 in my gas engines.
