I looked on their site, couldn't find specs for that 1840 grind cam.
I looked at the Russ Repair website, it's still up. Is the family going to keep the business going?
Here's the reply from Oregon Cam.
I am not familiar with the logger cam reference but we do still make out street cam for that engine grind #1840. We can grind your core for $225.
Back to carrying a spare, an idea I'm going to explore eventually is to cut a big, round hole in the outer bedside in front of the rear wheel, and rig some framework there to hold a spare partly recessed into the bedside.
When the electricians bolt the cables to the paddles on 1200 Amp switch gear, and in the transformer that feeds it, they clamp clean bare metal to clean bare metal. No dielectric grease, but that's not exposed to the weather.
The washer is nice, not necessary. You want clean bare metal tightly clamped to clean bare metal, with a thin schmeer of dielectric grease between, just as clb said. Shine'em up with a bit of coarse sandpaper and bolt'em together.
If you have three of one kind of rim and three of another, put two identical rims on one side, and two different but identical on the other. That way both sides look like they have matching rims, they just don't match the other side.
I'm doing that on several rigs, and it's surprisingly effective.
I recommend you get the EVTM, Electrical and Vacuum Troubleshooting Manual, for your vehicle. It won't help with the ambulance stuff, but it'll tell you all about what Ford put in there in the beginning. That's what the ambulance upfitter butchered.
CDD is still in business, and his pumps might be the best we can get. He has the factory equipment to test the pumps when he's done, and is doing things like putting ceramic lining in the advance cylinder.
I'm sorry to hear about Typ4. Did he pass on the secret recipe for his cams to anyone?
I kinda like those hoop steps, they're easy to bypass but they let the short people in. The ambulance has running boards, and they're awkward for me, but my little woman loves them.
Today I fired up the plow truck and knocked back the drifts on our road. There's a fellow down at the far end who keeps it plowed pretty well, does it while I'm at work. We haven't had much snow this winter, but we've had a lot of wind, and there is a place near the middle of the road where the...
I have the round Holly Retrobrights on the Mercedes, and they're a noticeable step up from the stock sealed beams. I have Morimoto LED projector retrofits on the ambulance, and they are a much bigger step up. I don't really feel the need for moose lights on the ambulance now.
Yesterday made a grocery run to Fairbanks in the ambulance. 200 mile round trip on icy roads, and the ambulance doesn't have studded tires. Each time I felt it skid a bit I slowed down, probably averaged around 45.
The Morimoto LED projector headlights are wonderful. Even on low beam I can see...
