    Electric fuel pump part number

Personally, I really like the mech pumps - it's amazing just how much flow they can flow at higher RPMs(where you need the fuel). If you are having priming issues, you can either fix them, or do something like put a dirt-cheap electric pump between the mech pump and the fuel filter. You only...

    AC question?

Yes. I totally did. Automatic Transmission Fluid. Dex/Mercon. It's a high-temp, light-weight oil, often synthetic. Works well with aluminum. What's not to like? I killed a couple of those stupid(used) compressors with "compressor mineral oil". It was just too thick, would work itself out of the...

    AC question?

BTW, when JY hunting for the OBS trucks - the compressor that "looks" like ours has two variations. One ends in 10 and the other in 15. The 10 is garbage and won't hold up to R134A very long; the 15 is better. If you are using something other(R290, freeze 12 etc), you may be able to get away...

My truck will never see 400000 Km

Mine's the same way. Rolled over twice before I got it(that I know of), it rolled over once for me a couple years back, and now I'm 1/3 of the way to the next rollover...

    Head Bolts

Remember, it's not boost that blows gaskets, it's the (much) higher pressures from burning that air with more fuel. So 45 psi and no extra fuel may not blow a gasket, while 10 with extra fuel may. That being said, I've run a N/A IDI block and bolts at 15 psi, ~250 RWHP for over a year before...

    Particulate filter on IDI?

Putting my 2 cents in here: Black smoke is just plain incomplete combustion - you are starving for air! Ford turned these things up as far as they could get away with from the factory, which resulted in more smoke(and a bit more HP) than it could have had. The solution is either to turn the fuel...

Swapping pushrods with a different motor?

Not really; typically, it sticks open, resulting in hot-idle PSI of around 10-12. Which seems low... but International thought that was within limits(Service limit for hot idle PSI is 10 IIRC). And, I've run multiple engines like that for years with seemingly no ill effects - Oil gets pumped...

    Injector change out

If all you do is replace the injector itself, and do not loosen the line at the IP; it'll prime almost instantly. If you loosen the lines at the IP, they will drain out... and it'll take a lot more priming to actually prime. To properly prime/fill the lines: 1. Tighten the IP-end. 2. Leave the...

Swapping pushrods with a different motor?

Yup; as others have said: 1. Pushrods are all the same length(and the hydraulic lifter takes up small variations anyway). 2. If they are round on the end(should be a nice ball), they are good. Personally, I haven't seen any with worn ends or odd wear patterns; I'm of the opinion that the...

Who all can mod a ATS/Factory Ford turbo... cheaply?

True, but it's also: 1. Investing a large amount of money in a truck that's worth almost zero... for modest gains. 2. How much is it to do a full turbo rebuild(and upgrade the wheel) vs upgrading to an entirely new turbo(S257, S360 etc). That being said... I can totally see paying for the...

Who all can mod a ATS/Factory Ford turbo... cheaply?

I know I was looking at that at first, considering I found new OBS wheels for under $20 I've been playing around with. But, yeah, I saw that they were opposite rotation... but that was exactly what got be thinking that there should be some sort of cheap off-the-shelf wheel out there for...

Who all can mod a ATS/Factory Ford turbo... cheaply?

I'm not sure how far I'll go, but I do think I'm just going to go for it. The Wicked Wheel works great(and evidently is well enough balanced), and I never even pulled the exhaust side loose - just got an impact onto the shaft, vice grips on the old wheel and off she came. One heck of a lot...

Not yet; I don't think I have his phone number anymore.

    Injection pump question

Based on my dyno runs over the last few years... Yes and no. Instead of being air-limited in a NA-style(where you have high torque down low, and it drops due to lack of air), you end up air limited at the low end and fuel limited at the high end. So the torque curve hits the N/A torque...

Who all can mod a ATS/Factory Ford turbo... cheaply?

Alright, so I'm sure I'm going to get some complaints here, people telling me I shouldn't do this but... I'm looking for someone who can get me an upgraded compressor wheel(60-1 mod?) for my factory ford turbo setup. Only... I don't want to go through a full rebuild. I *just* want a...

    Double cardan delete?

Totally forgot about this thread. Someday, I'll get some good pictures of the spacer I made - it was like 4" in diameter, 3" long. Anyway, it worked. Just fine. You can tell there's a little vibration when the hubs are locked in, but that may also be the shot wheel U-joints(which I still...

It’s time for a new flywheel....

SMF all the way. Plain and simple. I like the LuK; cheap enough and still widely available/supported; fairly light pedal feel.

    Turbo Charging

The 'current' wastegated banks kit uses a TE06H turbo. It's also good for no more than 250 RWHP; ~200 normally. Fine for a stock IP; not for anything bigger.

LUK SMF new flywheel installation questions

Remember, the surface that touches the fingers is /never/ spinning against them. The spring in the slave cylinder keeps the throwout bearing engaged(and spinning with the flywheel) at all times.

    Cam replacement?

Just be aware - the cam will help down low, but you aren't going to get more HP up high - You just plain aren't getting any more air into the motor. *nothing* else you can do will come even close to a basic kit turbo. Plain and simple. Add more air and fuel and you get more power. These motors...

    F3TA-10039-CB bolt size

Pretty sure bolts that go into the block will be SAE, usually 3/8-16. Just figure out your length and get them from the local hardware store.

    7.3 head gasket prep

My personal method, which works fine but is probably not recommended: Good old steel wire wheel. Works like a charm; won't noticeably affect the cast iron surface(may round edges slightly), but will take everything off it. (Note: steel wire wheels are kind of rough on aluminum bits, though I've...

    fuel return priming system...

That's because, as I said(see #1), you've got the ability to drain back fuel due to minor leaks in the rest of the system, as well as a lack of a positive check valve on the supply side. Fix either of these, and you've solved the issue. I prefer just adding a check valve.

    10.25" Sterling question

To go from a short-spline to long-spline setup(I'm guessing?) yes, the spline length on the gearset is longer.
