I've got a 1988 F350 king cab dually with the 7.3 IDI and and ATS turbo and 5 spd transmission. It was a good truck for several years but a couple of years ago it started having trouble. It would start fine and run a short distance (a mile or maybe 2) then act like it was out of fuel and die. If I let it sit for a while (1-2 hours) it will crank right up and run a short distance then die again. I have an electric lift pump (as described in this post...https://www.oilburners.net/threads/...th-a-facet-duralift-electric-fuel-pump.54496/) which appears to be supplying plenty of fuel. I parked the truck until I could troubleshoot the whole fuel system but some family issues intervened and I never got around to working on it. I've had a couple of people ask me about selling the truck or just the engine/turbo but I've been hesitant to put a price on it. Other than the fuel problems the only thing it needs is paint (still has the original white/red 2 tone but it's badly oxidized). The interior is in better than average shaped and the body has only very minor rust. What do you guys think would be a fair price for truck in this condition if I sold it as is and what would be a good price for the engine with turbo, transmission, etc if I part it out?

Thanks for the help!

It sounds like it needs a injection pump and that would probably fix it. It would be worth the time and effort only a couple hours work about. If just trying to sell the truck get a used pump from someone they can be had for relitibly cheap. Around here a crew cab 5 speed is being sold on Craig's for 3500 asking price. It's white in color and in reasonable condition. Like small dents dings scratches just typical truck damage. Running and driving though with new pump and injectors says performance but didn't mention brand name on fuel system

Down here the best ones about $3500.00. Sure people ask for ALOT more but havent seen anyone pay it.

I'd suspect the lift pump is failing (overheating) or the line(s) are clogged. Where abouts are you?

I'm about halfway between Nashville and Chattanooga TN. Pretty sure it's not the lift pump, it's practically new and I have disconnected the output line and let it pump fuel into 5 gallon jugs for several minutes with no problem at all.
