    What brakes do you suggest?

PS you can get a whole hub with the studs from PYP for less than the cost of 8 new studs. Bearings included. Just bring the proper tools!

With the cost of everything these days, I always hit the PickYourPart yards first. I get every little piece I might need. Facebook Marketplace has been really great as well. Most times sellers on there will let you get all the extra pieces as well and you'll make some like-minded friends!

    No fuel to the injectors.

Yep, I just watched the video about the IP and that's definable the case! Sheesh! Poor motor, I've been taking it easy on it and then I overthink something, take apart pump, when it was simply my fault for forcing the rubber line on the fitting! For those that, like me, think the Roosamaster is...

    No fuel to the injectors.

chickenpot, that's what I was hoping and maybe 3500rpm just sounded like 5. It was quite a surprise to reach in the window, turn the key, and get that result! Got lots of coal and I have a Dynomax muffler (which I'm replacing too loud). I thought I was watching the Pulls at the County Fair...

    No fuel to the injectors.

BTW, it was the debris in the return line that must have saved it from running away till it blew up, so it was a mixed blessing. If only I had inspected that hose first, I would have never condemned the IP and opened it up in the first place....stupid me.

    No fuel to the injectors.

Not sure if this is the place to post, but I put my IP cover on incorrectly and it RAN AWAY! Full bore, coal out the pipe and probably 5 grand for about 5 + seconds. Seemed like an eternity and I was helpless. It then came way down to about 2 grand at which point I ran and got big forceps and...

How to set the timing on your 6.9 or 7.3 IDI and how to buy timing equipment.

Tach sensor looked like an analog waveform, probably similar to sensor on rear diff or abs or a Hammond B3... My goal is to have a simple inexpensive way of just clipping to the existing Piezo with the Bosch light. Pulled a small triac off a junk kitchen blender speed control and am going to...

How to set the timing on your 6.9 or 7.3 IDI and how to buy timing equipment.

Another thought is that since pump is on same gear as the factory tach sensor mag pickup, maybe it could be used as a trigger...

How to set the timing on your 6.9 or 7.3 IDI and how to buy timing equipment.

Turns out cheap Imposter DSO from Temu was flakey and I can't promise screenshots in my previous post was of any value. I then purchased another from Amazon which was supposed to be the real thing, JYETech. It was worse than the Temu unit! So don't buy either of those. My other scopes, despite...

How to set the timing on your 6.9 or 7.3 IDI and how to buy timing equipment.

Oh boy! I had my scope probe set to 10x when I thought it was on 1x, so the voltage of the Piezo spike is ~25 volts! Just thought I'd correct that before anyone blew up a timing light's input circuitry.

How to set the timing on your 6.9 or 7.3 IDI and how to buy timing equipment.

Great writeup and thread! My first post on Oilburners! I put an oscilloscope on the factory Piezo (thing or "adapter" on top of injector) on #1 injector and get a train of pulses. Negative going, a couple of volts. Next, I'll procure a "Digital" timing light, remove the clamp/pickup coil and...

    Pulled a 1987 out of a hole

Remember that if you try and run off a Gas Can Connected Directly to the Lift Pump ( not injection pump ) that Fuel Tank Selector Valve will allow System to Suck Air through any Disconnected Return Lines. I discovered this when I had selector valve set to empty front tank and put hose in gs can...
