Rough idle, erratic shifting help please.

Thanks Bart. The truck ran almost the same before the new injectors, but now little to almost no smoke on startup. There were two that were leaking very badly and popping just @ 100 bar. Maybe it's a bit smoother, but I can't really say for sure. Timing - I think the truck runs smoother at...

Rough idle, erratic shifting help please.

5 psi idle to 3 psi 3000 rpm tested at filter head. Seems good yes? Is that too high? My reading on it suggests it's fine....

Rough idle, erratic shifting help please.

I haven't tested it. I will. The pump is a Facet duralift 20331 / 40222. Rated at 9-11.5 psi at 33 gph. I'll check it at the filter head, either at schraeder valve or (deleted) injector return line, yes? What is the accepted range of psi please? Would I expect these symptoms from too high...

Rough idle, erratic shifting help please.

Hey guys, I'm in the final stages ( I hope) of diagnosing some issues I've been having, and need some input from the more experienced. 1992 f250 7.3 idi NA. I have a loping rough idle, worse when at operating temp feels like air intrusion, but I'm pretty certain it's not. After high idle...

Driveshaft and Carrier / Center Bearing issues. Ideas?

If I haven't found one at the junkyard this weekend I'll give that a go. There's one nearby me. Thanks. It's definitely worn, right? I'm not missing a sleeve or spacer, or....

I'm not hip to the lingo. What's the stub?

Driveshaft and Carrier / Center Bearing issues. Ideas?

Thanks for the idea, but I don't think that would work. A few millimeters to about 1/8" difference. There's enough difference that it wobbles.

Driveshaft and Carrier / Center Bearing issues. Ideas?

Hey guys. My carrier bearing was howling on my 92 F250 7.3 IDI extended cab so I dropped the driveshaft to replace it. When I got to removing the bearing it appears that either this bearing or a previous one had worn the mating surface (completely smooth, so maybe its factory and I'm missing...

Help! I botched it! Oil overfill, coolant in oil after water pump r&r and oil cooler reseal.

Update: All is well. No leaks (so far) from the gaskets, and no coolant appears to be getting in my oil. I'll run it as is for 100 miles or so and change the oil and filter out just to be on the safe side. Thanks for the support fellas. Pic below for those who want to see my shop press.....

Help! I botched it! Oil overfill, coolant in oil after water pump r&r and oil cooler reseal.

Hey Goat, thanks for the tips. I bought a case of AC Delco filters at a bargain a while back and am still working on those, but that seems like a pretty good deal for those Motorcraft filters! I think next time I'll try some silicone o-ring lube like has been suggested...hopefully there will...

Quick tip for those who have bypassed their glow plug relay

The reason I changed the setup was that the original relay no longer closed and passed power through it. It was cheaper for me to switch to a manual setup. Luckily, my wait to start light length works properly (I guess) and has for a few years. We'll see what the future holds. Kind of a...

Quick tip for those who have bypassed their glow plug relay

I think I did it the same way in my '96 Chevy k2500 Suburban too..

Help! I botched it! Oil overfill, coolant in oil after water pump r&r and oil cooler reseal.

Update: Oil cooler is back on the engine. I had a ridiculous time trying to get it pressed together. I was going much easier on it this time so as not to recreate my cut o-ring problem. It would not go together. Vaseline, motor oil, bearing grease, nothing helped. So, I stuck the tube in...

Quick tip for those who have bypassed their glow plug relay

I definitely have a separate solenoid setup. I think I'm taking the original "always hot" lead to my new relay (starter switch). I have a 12v wire going to my momentary switch. It operates the new relay and sends 12v back to the original relay on the gp (output) side. So I guess the original...

Quick tip for those who have bypassed their glow plug relay

I'd have to look to remember how I've got my bypass wired exactly, but the wait to start light still comes on for 10 ish seconds, longer when it's cold, and then cuts off all while pushing my momentary switch. I just use that as the timer. Anyone know if that light runs on a timer or temp...
