Quick question - tank swap
Great! Any special mods needed to make it fit or is it just a bolt in? The 38 gallon tank seems to have the filler opening in the middle of the tank. My short bed crew cab has the filler towards the rear of the tank. I can get the tank for $75 and I don't mind doing some modification...- BKahler

Just got back from the dealership where I bought the truck. The owners son who works as a salesman there knows about SCT tuners and so I drove the truck over over to have him take a look. Turns out the truck has been chipped and has three tunes available, street, performance and towing...- BKahler

Rob, thanks for the video. Kinda surprising how fast it started with the helper battery. I will say mine cranks over a whole lot faster than in the video so I'm hoping that's not the issue. I do have a new replacement positive battery harness to replace the butchered one that's in there...- BKahler

Plugged in the X3 this morning, fortunately the truck didn't explode or catch on fire :Thumbs Up It did report one code P0603 which I'm wondering if that didn't occur because of the low voltages that occured prior to my repairing the battery cable connectors. Now to figure out how to find...- BKahler

I did check the heater cable and its good. Stupid me should have checked the heater resistance while I was under the truck but didn't :( Next time I'm under the truck I'll check it. It's already started raining here so I won't be crawling around in or under the truck until next weekend. Brad- BKahler

Is it Chipped....or not?
Having just bought a 2001 7.3 SD with 145,000 on the clock I'm trying to figure out how to tell if it's been chipped or not. There are two reasons why I'm thinking it might have a chip. One, in the bottom of the toolbox was an SCT X3-3000 programmer and when the transmission is shifting gears...- BKahler

Thanks for the info. If I can get to it before it starts raining tomorrow I'll check the GP wiring. If I don't get the chance tomorrow it's gonna have to wait until next weekend. I do plan to replace the block heater but that's gonna have to wait for a while. I have been collecting parts...- BKahler

One other thing. While cranking the tach doesn't move. If the engine fires, even momentarily the tach needle will start to climb but before it goes to maybe 300 or so it acts like it shuts down. Could it be the CPS?- BKahler

I did try jumpering the GPR posts this morning and it didn't make any difference. The voltage on both of the posts was actually down as low as 11.4 or so at times. Possibly even lower. I did finally get it started but it took a lot of cranking. It didn't seem to matter how long I left the...- BKahler
