Great! Any special mods needed to make it fit or is it just a bolt in?
The 38 gallon tank seems to have the filler opening in the middle of the tank. My short bed crew cab has the filler towards the rear of the tank.
I can get the tank for $75 and I don't mind doing some modification...
Just got back from the dealer where I bought the truck and the salesman was able to confirm that the truck has been chipped. Three tunes available, street, performance & towning.
I know it's got a larger exhaust (4 or 5 inch).
Garret turbo
Suspected performance injectors
This got me to...
Just got back from the dealership where I bought the truck. The owners son who works as a salesman there knows about SCT tuners and so I drove the truck over over to have him take a look. Turns out the truck has been chipped and has three tunes available, street, performance and towing...
Rob, thanks for the video. Kinda surprising how fast it started with the helper battery.
I will say mine cranks over a whole lot faster than in the video so I'm hoping that's not the issue. I do have a new replacement positive battery harness to replace the butchered one that's in there...
Plugged in the X3 this morning, fortunately the truck didn't explode or catch on fire :Thumbs Up
It did report one code P0603 which I'm wondering if that didn't occur because of the low voltages that occured prior to my repairing the battery cable connectors.
Now to figure out how to find...
Definitely spendy. I wonder how much stress your knees are under while working like that? I've ordered one of these hoping that it will help some, especially if I have to work on it along side the road...
I did check the heater cable and its good. Stupid me should have checked the heater resistance while I was under the truck but didn't :( Next time I'm under the truck I'll check it.
It's already started raining here so I won't be crawling around in or under the truck until next weekend.
Brad
Having just bought a 2001 7.3 SD with 145,000 on the clock I'm trying to figure out how to tell if it's been chipped or not. There are two reasons why I'm thinking it might have a chip. One, in the bottom of the toolbox was an SCT X3-3000 programmer and when the transmission is shifting gears...
Thanks for the info.
If I can get to it before it starts raining tomorrow I'll check the GP wiring. If I don't get the chance tomorrow it's gonna have to wait until next weekend.
I do plan to replace the block heater but that's gonna have to wait for a while. I have been collecting parts...
One other thing. While cranking the tach doesn't move. If the engine fires, even momentarily the tach needle will start to climb but before it goes to maybe 300 or so it acts like it shuts down. Could it be the CPS?
I did try jumpering the GPR posts this morning and it didn't make any difference. The voltage on both of the posts was actually down as low as 11.4 or so at times. Possibly even lower. I did finally get it started but it took a lot of cranking. It didn't seem to matter how long I left the...
Last month on my Birthday I purchased a really nice looking 2001 F250 SD 7.3 Crew Cab Short Bed truck. It has 145,000 miles on the clock and has been pretty well maintained (came from west Texas). This isn't my first 7.3, I've had an 88, 92 and a 2000. Although this isn't my first post to Oil...
Being a new owner of a 2000 F250 I've been sorting out what options the truck came with and which ones I wish it had.
The truck came with power door locks and power windows and manual mirrors. The additional options I wish it had are keyless entry and power mirrors. As near as I can tell my...
Well, I tried the on-off 3 times routine and the door locks didn't cycle. Dang.
Any idea how hard it would be to retrofit a non keyless entry truck to keyless entry?
Thanks for the info.
Brad
Been a long time since I last posted.
Tuesday evening we purchased a 2000 F250 Super Duty pickup in pretty decent condition. A little high on mileage (236,000) but it looks and runs good.
We did not receive remote door lock key fobs and after thinking about it I'm not sure how you would...
My E40D was doing something similar. I was able to trace the problem with the transmission to the failing tachometer sensor. When I would first start the truck in the mornings the tach would register zero until you revved the engine. The speed registering zero apparently causes the E40D...
pafixitman,
I got the sensor replaced and due to extenuating circumstances left the battery disconnected for slightly more than 45 minutes (36 hours actually!). Finally had a chance to start the truck up and the tach now registers at idle when I first start it when it never did before. Took...
Is the reader you're referring to the ODB-2 reader? If so I have one of those. If not then I'll just disconnect the battery for a while and give that a shot.
Thanks for the info!
Brad
Joe, I think the big nut is actually behind the steering wheel in this case....LOL
Thanks for the info. I guess I need to track down a replacement tach sensor and install it. Can I assume that it's just a matter of removing the big nut by the IP and replaceing it with another one and then...
