Sorry if this is highjacking the thread but what happened to idieselman Tim with that awsome 79 f350 from michigan?

Tim ended up selling the truck, a few years back, for around 25 or 28k if memory serves correct.
It's been several months since I talked to him last but he's onto bigger projects.

Yep that's my red dually. Goose was driving At the time. I was in my crawler(behind moose truck in first vid) back when it was still street legal. Dually doesn't have the shell anymore, trying to find another good one to put on it.

I hope the owner of Tims truck is taking good care of it!:backoff There's no way i would have sold it.

If I recall, the guy that bought it was somewhat of a collector and the truck was going to be taken good care of.;Sweet

The rallies are hosted by someone who has been to one before and has felt compelled to host. They chose the area based off local activities for gear head events and family events. Camping areas are selected to accommodate all walks of life so no one is excluded and there's something at the campground for the kids to keep them occupied as well as us big kids. There's an awful lot of planning that goes into coordinating the event and those that have hosted can all agree that it's a lot of work but that week pays off!

For you guys in areas that are a bit far out.... start one.... Just like the saying in the movie - "If you build it they will come".... it holds true.

Just look at how we do it for the IDI Weekends - as Ron said pick a campground that has full hook up (Water Sewer and Electric) has Cabins and tent sites - this way no matter what folks stay in they can come. Then make sure the campground has a playground and pool at the very least and is CLEAN and looks nice to the eye. Because you have all walks of life show up at these events so you need to try and shoot for the middle so everyone is happy.

Then plan some outtings as a group to do various things because you have to realize that folks basically take their summer vacations to come to these things. These outings don't have to be truck or IDI related because as I mentioned folks use up their hard earned vacations for these rallies so you can't include only truck related activities or they will never get their wives to agree to come to another. This is why for this years rally for example we are going to visit the Children's Museum here in Indy. The IDI Rallies are Family events as much as they are truck events. We are also looking at visiting an historic town that has a grist mill and canal boat ride. These outings have nothing to do with IDI's or diesels but they have to do with Family Activities and that is something that will keep the masses coming back because we blend diesels and families and that has always been true with all the IDI Weekends in the past and we have grown each and every year in size. I firmly believe it's because we don't ignore the families. I'm a family man first and a diesel owner second as everyone else is so I can't ignore the most important thing in my life but I can blend the two.

So plan an rally in Florida and include activities that everyone can enjoy and throw in a side diesel fun stuff and I bet you will see it grow before you very eyes into something that you never imagined. You can start small and have it for over a long weekend then let it build steam because if done right on the way home the wives and kids are non stop chatting about how they can't wait for the next years rally to get there so that they can see their friends again. We all have joked that the first year we drag our families to the rallies then after that they make for sure that we guys attend.

Jasper,

Nope it's another - Metamora Indiana. We are looking at hopping the train in Connersville and riding the rails down to Meta and back. They have a horse drawn canal boat that operates and they explain the history of the canal while you ride down the canal. There are speciality shops on one side of the railroad and canal.

last time I did anything major to my truck was in 2005 when I replaced the motor and installed the IC. lotsa photos in "let's talk intercoolers" thread. since then, it's only required minor stuff. a few belt tensioners and belts and a couple of IP's due to me running WMO. It's going to need a clutch before going out again this year but otherwise, it quietly stands by waiting for it's next mission.
