Are you chooseing to use this oil because of the price or is there another reason. I can get behind the price but I'm just wondering...

Not that I have heard anything bad about Delvac, but FWIW Costco sells Chevron Delo for about the same price, though you have to buy the case. They sometimes have good sales if you buy two cases.

I run Mobil Delvac in my truck. My research said to stay away from the low emission Delo, which is all I have ever seen anywhere. The Delvac seems to do fine and is certainly better than the Rotella I used to run.

I completely understand how money talks and the bs walks. I'm always looking for quality stuff at a fair price. I have bought plenty of cheap crap over the years. Then I'm upset with it so I pay what I need to and stay happy longer with what I buy. I still will shop prices... What I learn is this... A fram filter "looks good sitting on the shelf".. And thats where it stays.... Its motorcraft 1995 for me...

in your climate it wont burn off as fast as rotella, but it will burn off faster than Delo. Kind of like rotella, it's popular with big fleets due to price... generaly not a lot of thought given to long term overall use cost in those situations, just the upfront cheaper changes ( i.e. they dont bother to ask the shop, just the bean counters)

With an engine that will see a 3000 mile drain interval and burn some oil, I dont see any problem running that oil at all.

Synthetics will always be more expensive, and a better oil, but for most of us IDI'ers, kind of over kill.

Thanks...just ordered the kit and I can start getting regular analysis of my oil now that I have near 8000kilometers on MY 1st change, it's almost due to get another.

Wal-Mart has a deal on rotella...and I'll get a bucket of that to give a whirl...I have not used even 1/2 quart on this first change of mine! Just NAPA brand oil is all it was. Napa Premium filter too!

Mine is on Rotella, 10W30 no less, and hasn't used any since I fixed my boo-boo on the oil filter return line.

I've seen no evidence that one oil has significantly higher inherent consumption rates than any other. Would welcome any evidence that proves me wrong, as long as it isn't opinionated anecdotes. Noack runs about the same for all of them too. Delvac is very good oil. So is Delo, Valvoline Blue, Castrol Tection or GTX diesel, Rotella, etc. Use them all with confidence.

I just learned about a new Delo coming out soon, a Delo 5W30 HDEO. Got a little excited about that and would switch over if the price is somewhere close to right. It's an oil I can use in all my cars, trucks, tractors and small engines.

Burn off rates will vary for different trucks. Mine doesn't seem to care to much what oil is put in it, but I have seen trucks burn through more oil of one brand vs the other. It really depends on the condition of the engine though.
