hey guys I just wanted to let you know that I appreciate your quick and helpful responses. the last few days I've been on a cavalier forum, trying to figure out how to change a slave cylinder because it's a real pain! I ask a question and it takes 3to5 days before they get back to me. which I know people have other things to do, I just found that this forum was not very helpful. how ever this forum I get really quick responses, which really help me out in a time of need. I just wanna say thank you to all the knowledgeable people that give helpful and quick responses, it makes a difference!

Yea this foum is full of knowledge. Tried dealing with a honda forum when gf had one, it was horrible. The knowledge simply is not there, but they think it is...

Agreed completely. I spend some time on other forums (related to different topics), and there really is a difference between OB and those other forums. Seems to me that most other forums are much more anonymous, which leads people to be much less respectful of one another...and too many threads are filled with snarky comments at the very least and sometimes all-out fights.

I am very thankful for the OB community

FYI if you still haven't seen a useful reply about the cavalier and you are referring to the clutch slave cylinder, its is part of the throwout bearing inside the bellhousing. The transmission needs to come out to replace it. I know because I have a 97 cavalier and mine decided it was no longer cool to contain fluid and proceeded to pour it all over the place. Still waiting on the time and money thing to put the car together again.

Yupyup..... I've learned more about my IDI the last 6 months from this fine group than in the previous 2½ years on my own...

From the mechanics who maintain our PowerStroke fleet.....

And two of them own turbo 7.3 IDIs......

well, actually the transmission doesn't need to come out. I unbolted it and i just tilted it and pulled it out and then put the new one back in, and buttoned it back up. i dont know if that was the right way but it worked.

Well yeah that definitely works. I also had to replace the clutch in mine, so I just removed the transmission. Glad it worked for you a little easier.
