Got a fancy new piece of rectangular plastic the other day with a good size limit (opposed to my others) to which a re-ring kit shall go onto it ;Sweet.

Little update for those who are wondering.

Nothing has happened. Garage is cleaned up, so I feel like I shall work on it some more.

I'm going to tear it down to the bare block, and inspect the main and rod bearings (also see if its been gone through before). If they look good and are standard size, I will get new standard sized bearings. Same with the rings/pistons. If I can clean the cylinders up myself, I will just get standard sized rings and go at it.

Rings, main/rod bearings, and a full gasket kit are roughly $550 shipped. After that I will re-assemble, and try to start it up while on a stand.

If I could get my garage cleaned I wouldn't say it was nothing... good clean shop is the first step!;Sweet

Wish i would run across a builder that was affordable. It would be nice to have a new motor ready to go. Mine still runs good, but she is getting leaky and burning a few more quarts per 1000 than I'd like to see.

How should I pull the pump off? Don't want to mess timing up any.

the pump is keyed to the gear. if u look at the gear it will have marks on it that line up with the cam gear is meshes to. The crank will have 1 dot on it that you need to line up with the dot on the cam gear. Just turn the motor over untill you line the 2 dots up then the marks on the cam gear and injection pump gear should line up. People play with this setting and i think it actually has 2 different marks on it. then if u look at the back of the cover where the pump is bolted to they should of made a stamp mark on the ear of the pump and the cover. Thats for the timming aspect of it.

Thank you, just didn't want to get into anything.

Thinking about painting the block a dark grey and valve covers/compressor a dark blue. Hopefully will be taken in to be hot tanked and magnafluxed here in a couple days.

What boost pressure are stock head bolts good for? Should I go ahead and do studs?

iv seen up to 50lbs with no studs. with a stock h1c turbo they can produce about a max of 32lbs (that i know of) on all stock stuff. with the pump turned up of course. The stud kit for these arent THAT expensive. If you plan on making big big ponies. you have it apart and would be worth your while to just go ahead and do it. once you have this motor crammed under the ford firewall it becomes a chore to work on the last couple cylinders.
