I am curious where you are running the wires through the firewall? On my '92 I ran 10 gauge from the battery to a fuse block but I ran out of patience looking for an existing point to thread the wires through and just made a new hole. As an aside, having a properly grounded fuse block under the dash made adding gauges and extras so much easier. I have mine setup with a relay so it's only powered with key on--how are you wiring it in?
There's a big round hole on the firewall on the driver side that someone cut and already had wires running through, so I just keep using that same hole to run more.
I need to eventually block up the hole some, because mice were coming in from the engine bay in early summer. I finally got rid of them all after a couple months of setting snap traps and finally putting in a few mice repellent mothballs in the engine bay.
I'm tying in to an existing addon battery isolator solenoid that actives via ignition switch. The hole isn't far from it.
