I have a quick 4 trans controller for e4od trans for sale if anyone is interested. Like brand new. Use less than a month. I’m selling for $450 with all wiring connectors, still have box and manuals everything complete. Paid over $700 for it. My loss is your gain

I have one Quick 4 running and another still in the box. And could probably use another.

Why do you want to get rid of it?

I've seeing some of your postings about standalone controllers and Econoline vans. You seem like the go-to guy. Looking for some input. (98 Econoline van, 5.4, e4od. I installed the wrong transmission. Vss issues.)

What are your issues?

So I got a great deal on a van, free. 1998 Ford e250 Econoline. 5.4 gas, e4od. Bad trans. Otherwise in great condition. Did a bunch of research weighed my options ended up finding a rebuilt at a reputable Sacramento area trans rebuilder. Spent a couple weekends getting it installed with a buddy. Plug everything in, it's in limp mode. I find out that this trans doesn't have a provision for VSS in the tail shaft. I'm an idiot. Wrong trans for my application. No returns obviously. Rather than buy another trans, the correct one with the Vss for my application... I'd like to do a standalone controller. I've read your posts about these. I see that you had to tinker with yours for a while to get it to run right. Do you like yours?

You need a hole in the output shaft housing, and, a speedometer gear on the output shaft. I once received a trans that had the hole but not the gear. It went back to the builder for a shaft change. They accepted responsibility because I had specified number of teeth, and zero was not the number.

Best end result is to get the builder to reconfigure the trans, with a gear that matches your rear gear/tire.

Pull the rear housing and determine if the shaft has a gear; it probably does not.

The output shaft is last out first in. Even if you have the parts you probably don't want to do it yourself.

The VSS is a sine wave alternator. Somehow you need to create that signal at the appropriate frequency. At the moment I don't have a easy way to do that.

I do not have a gear in the tail shaft. I sent an email to the us shift folks...they have a way to get the signal for the VSS from the abs sensor in the differential. So, I may be ok. I'm in contact and will be ordering a quickshift4 this afternoon. Thanks for the reply.

When you indicated a problem because there was no VSS port in the tail housing, I assumed you were depending on it for both trans and speedometer.

How are you driving the speedometer?

I have a first gen Baumman in my van and a quickshift4 in a 65 Mustang/AODE.

The sample files in the first gen were generally close to what worked for me. The AODE file had shift points set so high that at 40MPH it was still in low gear. I needed to do a complete reprogram before I could even test drive.

In both van and Mustang I have LEDs from all the solenoids to ground. When the LED is on, I know the solenoid is powered and off. I find them very useful.

It's a free-for-all. I don't plan on selling the truck and it's a dedicated towing/hauling vehicle. So. I plan on building a dash for it where I'm going to mount a spare Android phone, dedicated for the OBD computer and speedometer/odometer, and the quickshift4. I have a background in 12v electrical, no sweat for me. I appreciate your input. I'm gonna be driving you nuts while I set it up. Haha.

I assume the speedometer in electronic, true? If so, where does it get the speed signal. Everything that uses vehicle speed would use the same signal.

Isn't 1998 a PSD. So yes we are in the wrong forum. But Baumman is general to E4OD, AODE,,,.

But, Doesn't an 89 have a power train controller(PTC)? Then the rule is, if you want to use Baumman, you tell the PTC that the vehicle has a standard trans.

89-91 use a TCM with a gear driven VSS on the tranny or transfer case.
