which motor would win a race? a 94 F150 with a 4.9l I6 vs a 94 F150 with a 302?

everything else is the same besides the motors... its just a question out of curiosity since there wasnt a video on youtube to be found of the two racing..

if everything is the same then the 5.0 would win. how far are they racing? depending on the gearing the 4.9 could get a little jump at the start but the 5.0 midrange torque would help it from there on out. the 4.9 torque peak is between 1800-2000 rpm, so its not going to be the best race engine in stock trim.
the best race between those engines is between longevity, which the 4.9 will will hands down.

I honestly would think I could win against a 5.0 idk maybe it's my driving style. I know I smoked a cummins one time and people don't believe me everyone seems to think my truck is a piece of **** with nothin under the hood.

That is a good question, If they are racing to 300,000 miles then the 300 6cyl would win!

Also depends on year model. I've had a 302 from the 70's with such outrageously crappy compression it was weak as could be. I also had a 300/6 that was pretty skippy in stock form.

As far as building them, it's a no brainer.... FlatTops, TrickFlow heads, cam and an intake the 302 all of a sudden makes 350hp.

Lots of variables in play on that one,..... but suffice it to say there is not a stock 300 6 that will beat 8200lb my Cummins,...


There have been some pretty gnarly turbo charged 300 6's that make lots of power for a F150.
