Wheres the pickup for the water temp?

Don't run stant. Use ONLY The Ford or International thermostats. They are the only ones regarded as the correct parts for these motors. Some do run others without problems but that is not the norm as you have found out. Glad you have determined what was wrong.

I'm going to put mine in that spot too!, how much water will come out of the plug?? I just scored some gauges from a guy, oil psi, water temp, vacuum, and amps all for $20 (and made in the USA!) now i just got to figure out how and where to stick them in the cab???

I didn't have much come out at all. Maybe 1 pint tops. I just had the new sender ready and when I took the plug out put the other right in.

I installed 3 gauges on top of the dash in the middle. I bought a 3 gauge pod set that had individual cups that can be adjusted for the proper angle. It didn't cost much.
