i sealed up where the turbo goes into the snail. how can i test for a leaking snail? could i take a bottle of soapy water and spray where the snail meets the mani and look for bubbles? i still have the old boost gauge. i will a/c test that.

The water trick is worth a shot.
Have you tried just tightening down the watergate rod yet?
Really seems like it's just bleeding off pressure

i tested my other boost gauge and got the same results. so nothing is wrong with my glow shift gauge or the tubing. i tried the water around the intake but that did nothing.

i found this when looking at my snail.

i am wondering if when i reach 5psi the o-ring kind of blows out creating a wastegate effect and dumping boost.

very possibly. If you've got a digi cam, mount it in there + light and put some suds there and go for a spin. record and see if you blow bubbles. My .02$ and guessing

That gasket in the picture is not leaking. If it was there would be oil around the leak. Remember the crd blows into the intake and mixes with the air charge.

I still think wastegate is letting boost bleed off.
How bad is your airfilter? I know those stock intakes suck and a dirty airfilter woe just back it suck even more.

i am pretty sure i figured it out.

i decided to take my wg off and adjust it. well before i changed it's setting i figured i would test it out to see when it opens. so i rigged up my a/c and tested it. i could hear a hissing coming from the wg actuator. turns out there is a tiny hole in it that was bleeding off air.

i will upload a pic in a few minutes.
