Crankcase Decompression Regulator

Right under the air filter housing on the rear side.

Basically it lets combustion gases that make it in to the crankcase to be burned by dumping them into the intake.

When there is pressure from the crankcase towards the intake it is open and allows flow.

When there is a vacuum from the intake to the crankcase it closes to prevent suction, but will open again once the situation of vacuum is gone and there is pressure again.;Sweet

Crankcase depression regulator. It is on the back of the intake on a non turbo, looks like a tuna can. At low rpms, the engine sucks the crankcase vapors(blow by) into the intake. At high rpms it would suck oil too, so this device closes the opening down to prevent this.

There's got to be picture around here somewhere, but if you're having trouble with the guy behind the counter at Ford they list it with a different name, can't think of what it is right now.

Not a CDR acronym though.
