Haaaalp!

Bad solenoid, (or starter, but I hope not!!) Trying to drop starter, and the bolts are rounding off. I didn't continue after I saw what was happening, I figured I'd get some advice.

Anything I can do?

Mine are 1/2 inch also. I did try a 13mm and rounded one off. I find these bolts under trucks all the time when I'm pocket shoping in the wrecking yards.

I just got some 3/8 x 1.5 12 point head for mine, makes it real easy to get a socket on the top one. And the originals are 1/2 inch head. American engine ,not import.

Time for a bolt out socket if they get too rounded.
Them things have bailed me out countless times.

Tell me more about this device? I need something, as it's not coming out.

Whatever I use is gonna have to be skinny. Part of my problem is that the socket won't sit down quite flush on the bolt, because it hits the side of the starter.

Look in your socket and see how wide the chamfer is, you may have to grind it down to get a better hex to grip the bolt.

It's not that, it's the shoulder on the starter that won't let a socket sit down all the way with a breaker bar or an extension in the socket.

Sears carries a bolt out set. They are the ticket. Theyve saved my ass so many times.

This would be the bacon saver if all else fails.

Gotta confess... I haven't a clue what your talking about. I've had starters on and off a few times doing motor swaps, and have never had a problem getting on a starter bolt. Must be the kind of starter you have? :dunno

Let me know what kind that is, so I can avoid them. LOL
