Psd starter

Anyone know if a starter off a 97 f350 psd 5 sp 4x4 will work on a 1990 f350 with the same specs?

I believe the PSD starter has one additional tooth.

Thanks for the replies. I realized I'm in enough of a pinch to give it a try regardless of what I'm told. The verdict in this instance is bolts up fine but won't reach. It is shorter so it just plunges and spins , doesn't even touch. No go

Well at least you tried and found out why it wont work. This forum members have tried most everything available on these rigs. Its how we learn what works.. Or does not work.

This is the starter I went with recently. I think they shipped it next day and I had it within 2 days. Turns my 6.9 faster than I ever imagined.
