I know I'll probably get yelled at by you all, but I have a chance to buy a 96 powerstroke and am thinking about doing a IDI to poerstroke swap, The stroker is pretty beat up and need a front axle wheel and tires but it only has 88K on the engine so I'm thinking about swapping the engine in mine and putting it in that one, anyone ever took on this kind of project I have a 5 speed manual transmission will I have to swap the transmissions out to or can I just take out the engine and computer stuff out and use my trans?

if you have a complete truck, the swap is do-able. but it's alot of work.
the second issue you will come up against is if the system is set up for auto and you're going to a manual, you will have some electrical engineering issues to deal with.

I bet you could. See if there are any standalone EMS's for it. I would check a Hydra-Nemesis first, they are very powreful. Or perhaps Banks knows of one. At any rate I am considering doing the same thing, but with a 6.4PSD. If you happen to come across something let me know.
