Yeah, good point mike. so if I did a locker in front, I'd want a selectable one. Which means more expensive, which means id be throwing money at a dana 35 thats more prone to breakage with a locker. Seems like the best choice is to leave it alone, and only do a selectable locker if I do a d44 solid axle swap...

Yea or maybe a limited slip. I know my trac loc is not a locker but it has helped a lot since I don't have a front drive shaft in yet.

Unless you are planning on off-roading the ranger a lot I would advise against locking the front. It can make a 4x4 ill mannered on slick roads unless you go with a selectable locker that you just use for sticky situations. Even the guys I used to mud race with would not lock the front diff because it caused control problems. Just something to think about.

I second this......

We had one of the rare Bullnose F-150 4x4 with a FACTORY FRONT Limited Slip Differential. Living in the country, even when the roads have been plowed, there is still snow on the roads. When you were stopped on the crowned rural roads, when you would hit the throttle, the truck would slide straight sideways, until the passenger side tires were in the ditch. They would grab traction in the ditch and off you would go. If it was more icy, it would really start to skate around......

I would suggest, select-able or open for a road truck.........

Have you guys ever seen a starter wear out like this? its weird, its like the shoulder that is suppose to keep the pin engaged just wore through. Maybe it was just rebuilt too many times?

Its a cheap reman for a 2000 7.3 superduty.

Check out the pic and vid

Well, I dont know if I should have or not, but I welded a washer onto the nose and threw the starter back in. Seems to be working fine again. Figured I had nothing to lose.

Yeah, the day after the rally I could hear it freewheeling like every other start.
I thought It had maybe vibrated loose. I pulled it, never seen anything like that before.

.

I made some valve cover noise reduction hats. I had a bunch of sound deadener material left over from my build so I had this idea. Basically there are 2 layers of sound deadener, sticky side to sticky side. I used a spare valve cover to make the shape. Then they just slid over the valve covers.

Jury is still out, but they seemed to cancel out a lot of the noise. I figured I have nothing to lose, easy enough to slide back off if I dont like them. So far I like them besides being ugly as sin LOL. I'm going to use more of my material to cover the oil pan and see what that does, but for that I'll just stick 2 layers on.

I'm sure that works better.
I've heard of people layering on bed liner to do the same thing.
