Yep that's the intake but yes old valley pan. I could go rooster **** pink... right Al? @riotwarrior

I think I like the valley pan as a contrast bits subtle.

Just got to get the plated parts sorted.

I need to get this thing buttoned up and lubed. It's starting to flash rust. [emoji20]

May have to go at it with my spray bottle of Wd and give it a little mist and wipe down.

Made some progress.

Made the valley plug in stainless. Let's see this one rust.

Complete with concave top for drainage.

Cut down the adapter I made.

It fits really tight in the hole.

Few extra drain holes.

Oil shouldn't back up there.

Painted the valley pan.

Intake installed with torque sequence from my 83 manual. Hope it's right.

Oil drain and valley drain installed.

Getting the stupid valley pan to line up was a real pain in the butt. But I finally got it all.

I cleaned up my from cover and nickel plated it but it looks terrible so I'll paint it. I primed the motorcraft water pump I have. I'll probably lay it on top of the front cover and paint it together.

After seeing the valley pan I'm second guessing my valve cover color scheme. Damn you leeland. If you hadn't done yours in red I wouldn't feel bad about it. Oh well. That's for another day. Fingers crossed we have no leaks. It's my first time sealing one up so we will see.

Which bit the valley drain or the oil drain?

I like both but I have a small concern that the oil drain is going to be too tall and the line from the turbo is going to be super short. The Teflon lined tube I have is not real flexible so I may have an issue there but it should be almost a straight shot down. As long as there is room for the fittings and at least a few inches of tube I think I'll be okay. Otherwise I'll punt. It's one of those things I should have checked while I had the turbo mocked in place and forgot. Of course at the time I was thinking I would drain the turbo through the fuel pump block off but that doesn't make sense after looking at it.

Got to decide on the valve covers and get them done. Next thing on the hit list is the front cover. It's the only thing that is keeping me from getting her sealed up so I can put oil in it and circulate it. I have the oil cooler ready to go. Oooo.. need a drain plug too. May grab that at lunch... then there's... the oil... Think I'm going to run Mobil Delvac. Need to measure for my turbo feed line too and get that ordered. It's a very long list.

I'm hoping that most of the "dirty" work is done. Body work aside.

Well Rob, I like em too so I think I've found an interim solution.

Looks pretty good I think. Not going to worry about the stencil right now.

I got the CDr hole tapped for a plug. Turns out that 1 1/8 -7 (NC) is a 63/64" hole. The hole in the manifold measures 1". Close enough for government work.

Need to make the plug. I ordered a stainless bolt that I'll cut an o-ring groove in. That should do nicely.

Water pump and front cover.

Ordered a whole bunch of stuff. Water fittings for the turbo, oil drain fittings. Glow plug controller. Fun stuff. Measured for my oil feed. I think this is the plug I am pulling from right?

If so 36" should be plenty but I think I screwed up and got 1/4 npt fittings for the block and since it's an NA block it's 1/8 npt. [emoji53]

Oh well. I'll get that ordered. Been studying intercoolers. Pulling the trigger on that soon.

Lots more to do but I stuck the intake hat on for fun and the decal for the valve cover. I think it's going to look awesome.

Not sure how to do my I C pipes and the intake hat.

Need more rtv and a couple bolts to finish sealing it up. Got 3 gallons of mobil delvac 15w40. New oil plug.

Maybe have it sealed up tomorrow.
