Metal ordered. Metal clutch line, new slave, thermostat motorcraft of course), and oil cooler reseal kit all ordered. Got the rest of the fittings for the coolant filter coming too. Geeze, it's been an expensive couple days.

Got a little work done tonight. Pulled the pedal clusters apart.

After looking at the manual, I used some zip ties to hold the spring compressed then just worked the pedal and it falls out. Goes right back in that way too.

Swapped out the vacuum pedal for the hydro pedal.

Bushings were crispy in the donor but mine actually look good so they will go in the spare parts pile. New bushings coming.

When I did mine, I just grabbed the spring with some channel locks. Lol
Probably already thought about it, but I would lube the bushings and shafts.

Yep. Liberal application of lube on the bushing and such. It should be like butter and I don't want any squeaks. That annoys me when a pedal squeaks. If I was really crazy, I'd put zerks in the pedals but even I'm not that crazy. :D

More parts coming. Scored a NOS motorcraft water pump for $50. Still in the box. [emoji106]

Also did this.

That is a piece of steel that has been coated in black oxide laying next to raw steel and a drill bit for comparison. [emoji6]

Then I stood there looking at these hinges and thought, what am I going to do with these....

Can't leave it this way. Hmm.... Paint or plate...

So I sandblasted them.

So I plated them. Here you can see the one on the right is nickel plated. The left is bare steel.

And here they are both done. I may blast them and strike them again. The nickel doesn't come off with the sand blast so I'm hoping to even them up a little. I'm new at this one so I'm still working out the details.

And touching up where the hinges go.

Up next is finish putting the steering column together and start cleaning the floor up for prep and raptor liner.

If I get it all worked out nice, I'll do a tech 101 on it. It's electroplating much like the zinc process I've done. I'll do one on the black oxide too if it works out well. We will know that soon. [emoji6]

What's rdp?

Looking great! I really like the black oxide your doing. As I said I found a shop that could do plating for me, but misc small stuff being able to do it at home would be nice. I need to grow a pair and get over this hot chemical fear I have. Hell I fry turkeys and that burns down like 99 our of 100 houses according to the news.

So sum of today's efforts...

I wasn't totally happy with the hood hinges, so I gave them a quick blast and dipped them again and I think the result is a lot better.

Ready for assembly. [emoji6]

I've got a little work to do on these metal finishing processes just because I'm new to it. Once I get it wired I'll do a good write-up on them.

If things go well, I'll put the pedal box and steering column together tomorrow and start getting ready to prep the floor for finishing. I ordered the Raptor liner kit with a qt of etch primer. ;Sweet

How do you sand blast nuts and bolts like that? You got a screen or something to set them on when blasting? I never thought about blasting fasteners to clean them. That's brilliant.

What type of hot plate are you using?

Love the black oxide. Can't be putting back in crappy fasteners.;Sweet;Sweet;Sweet
