New fan clutch came today and is behind the seat with the fan clutch tool.

I'm hoping she eats the hills up tomorrow. There are a couple pretty good pulls. 6% for several miles. Even empty that ought to work her just a little. Hopefully very little.

You may want to double check that all your glow plugs are good now that you have the timing right. I set a truck to 11 degrees once and it ate the glow plugs in a pretty short amount of time. Btw I didn't want to set it at 11 degrees and I warned him that I thought it might eat the glow plugs, but that is where he wanted it set. Just a thought as to why it may be starting harder now.

That makes me wonder if the tap I'm hearing is a glow plug tip banging around.

I hope it's not that. First thing I would do is disconnect each of them and check them all with a test light. If you used motorcraft plugs I kinda doubt one actually broke off, but I suppose it's possible.

Cracked injector lines to find the one it is. Obvious miss and white smoke.

White smoke? Sounds like a head gasket. That sucks but at least not catastrophic

did it start to run like poop? an injector is doable in time but other than that it would plain suck.

well that wouldn't be good, obviously.... as always, interested to help, see, hear and diagnose the problem. I was really looking forward to seeing this at the rally. worst case would you tent it for the week?
