Hello to all fellow members. Two weeks ago, I started this rebuilding 'journey' by picking up a D60 from a guy. I then replaced the ball joints and axle U joints on it and then gave it a fresh coat of POR 15. So I pulled the truck into the shop, dropped the D50, and proceeded to instal the D60. It was then when I saw how rusty all of the leaf spring hangers and shackles were. So that put a halt to my progress while I tracked down rust free front leaf shackles and hangers. Ford discontinued the back hangers.:-arrgh

So while the truck was going to be down this long, I figured that I would make it worth while. I knew I need to take my transmission cooler out that was in between my intercooler and a/c condenser. So I tore it all down, and am mounting the intercooler closer. Also I got PSD moulding for my bumper and made the cut outs and put it in - I will probably put that in another thread. The pics start from the beginning to current.

I will continue to update this thread.

No, I still have to swap over the D50 hubs. When I do that, I will do them.

Was anything wrong with your D50 front end?

Or you simply wanted the reliability of a D60?

Nice work btw!

And good idea to coat the front of the truck! Your rad support looks in surprisingly great shape! Best save it :D

Nothing wrong with it (you want it?), wanted a D60. And for $375 for a whole setup, I cant complain.

I heard that a diesel core support was $710.cookoo I figured I could repair my tiny rust spots and be good.

Nah, if I wanted to change I'd also go with a D60. But I'll simply rebuild my D44HD. Unless I find a great deal on a D60 like you got!

Update here: Got the axle in. Got the track bar mounted. Got the stabilizer bar mounted and links connected. Got the hubs off the D50 and began swapping stuff over to the D60. I will get new inner bearings, new brake pads, etc. I will probably use the old rotors and calipers because they seem to have life on them. Pics will come tomorrow, left my camera, sorry.
