That seperation line between the header passages is so the fluids don't leak into the other passages. That would cause the mixing of fluids and nobody wants that. The way its designed is if a leak starts its going external and not internal... Like that would ever happen...

The silicone is a lubricant and if the gasket starts to deflect it can just extrude out because there is no grip on the paper surface, kinda like squeezing a watermelon seed.

Yes. If you dont overtorque it usually isnt a problem. Silicone is not a magic gasket sealer. The highest pressure area I would use it on is the cooling system.

Gaskets for the never leak

In my experience. IF you want to coat a gasket with something to take up potential pits or irregularities in the mating surface. Use Loctite 515, it has directions for this exact purpose. We use it FOR a Gasket if we can't get one, on any system, oil, coolant whatever.

Oil Cooler availability

Ugh I am doin my oil cooler on my truck. and the log has a pinhole, that shoots out oil and I am pretty sure the rear header has a leak in its castings.

I took it apart , very carefully and put in the nice blue Viton o-rings and installed it and after that when it was cleaned. I noticed the real leak problems.

In Canada they want 780 dollars for the tube and 585 for the rear header.

I would totally buy one and pay shipping from the States.

Anyone?

I have a good used one, came off a running engine so no metal failure and no rust.
PM me if interested.
