Diesel engines don't work like that. Turning it down just limits the available fuel. These are always unrestricted air and RPM is controlled by the amount of fuel injected, unlike a gas engine where the air is metered relative to the fuel.
Ok right on.
I'll give it a go when I get a chance.
Thanks for the help & information

If available... biodiesel smokes a lot less too.

A smoke puff limiter is only going to be of value if you already have a turbo.

Ever think to cover the bikes

Yes, I thought about that but it seemed like an extra hassle everytime I want to go for a ride. I've already moved the exhaust so it comes out from the side and got a bike rack for the back and its been working great.

Yeah, I'm always moving around but I get biodiesel when I can.

Yeah, I'd like a turbo but I'm debating on how much I should invest in this rig. Ultimately I think I'd like a bus that is just slightly longer.

Definatley. Mine goes through air filters like they are free.
Oh yeah, I forgot to mention I put a K&N air filter in a few months back.

With the exhaust now coming out the side, I can see the smoke coming out of the exhaust much clearer while driving.
I noticed two things:
-White smoke comes out when the engine is cold
-Lots of black smoke when going up steeper hills

I have not had a chance to adjust the fuel yet, but hopefully in the next week or two I'll find some time to get under the hood
