I started with a 87 f250 planning to fit the 6.9 into my 67 chevy 1ton. now I am considering just picking up a 6.2, that way my switch will be direct bolt in. As of now the 67 has a 350 with manual 4 speed. in the case of my prospective conversion what is not transferable? clutch, trans, flywheel, anything im not thinking of?
what did transmissions did the 6.2's come with?

Thanks, any help will be appreciated!

Usualy a 700R4 auto overdrive. Reliable until you work it real hard or abuse it. Good fuel mileage with the OD and good running 6.2

Get a 4L80E with a standalone controller. 4L80 came behind the 6.5's and 92 and 93 6.2's.

Check out leroydiesel for a price on controllers.

NV4500 is a good manual transmission.

Unlike the Ford diesel's, the 6.2/6.5 use the same bell housing bolt pattern. So to use the four speed in the truck you'd just need a new flywheel and clutch. IIRC I bought mine new from advanced auto for around 200ish. Pretty easy swap. I did the same on my '79 c-30. Even the exhaust bolted up the same. If you were to swap to a five speed you'd have to change from mechanical clutch to hydraulic. And so far I haven't seen any kits to do so.

The swap to a 4 speed manual is simple plug and play. The 700R4 is a wonderful tranny if it's built right. I wouldn't hesitate one moment to use one. But the manual is almost bomb proof

I keep contemplating such a conversion on a truck of mine that has a th400 behind it since it wasn't an OD tranny anyway. But since I got hurt, I am having a hard time driving an automatic much less my dads F150 right now. I love a manual tranny, the control of the vehicle, the feeling of borrowing a race car, shifting without a clutch... But damn, I can see a downfall when AFU.

Well either way, I would love to see any progress or finished pics of the process. Where are you at, exactly?
